CHESTER’S STORY<\/p>\n

I am just a little lad
\nMy start in life was very bad
\nMy owners – they just didn\u2019t care
\nIf I was \u2013 or wasn\u2019t there<\/p>\n

Almost every single night
\nThey would argue, they would fight
\nBut you could always guarantee
\nThey\u2019d take their anger out on me<\/p>\n

To get away I really tried
\nBut there was nowhere to hide
\nVery luckily for me
\nOne day they did both agree<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t want me anymore
\nSo I was booted out the door
\nA nice lady came and took me away
\nIn a dogs home I went to stay<\/p>\n

There were many dogs like me
\nWaiting of a family
\nWaiting for someone to come
\nAnd give them all a happy home<\/p>\n

People would come and take one away
\nI was always the one to stay
\nThe months did turn into a year
\nAnd I was feeling safe in there<\/p>\n

If interest someone did show
\nI didn\u2019t really want to know
\nThis was the place I wanted to be
\nCoz nobody was hurting me<\/p>\n

But the dreaded day did come
\nWhen someone came to take me home
\nOh no – Please do let me stay
\nMy life was put in disarray<\/p>\n

Please don\u2019t let it start again
\nAnd I am put through all that pain
\nA shout, a kick and then a slap
\nPlease don\u2019t send me back to that<\/p>\n

Part 2<\/p>\n

I was given a basket full of toys
\nEven some that made a noise
\nThey were very, very, very kind
\nBut those early days were on my mind<\/p>\n

So I made it very clear
\nThat I didn\u2019t want them near
\nDay after day after day after day
\nBehind the curtain I would stay<\/p>\n

Another favourite place to be
\nWas tucked away behind the settee
\nI know it wasn\u2019t very nice
\nBut I bit my owners more than twice<\/p>\n

So I waited for a clout
\nBut they didn\u2019t even shout
\nSix months went by and then a year
\nAnd I began to lose my fear<\/p>\n

Every day they talked to me
\nAnd the patience that was shown to me
\nAny fool could clearly see
\nThat no harm would ever come to me<\/p>\n

Now they are my bestest friends
\nAnd this is where my story ends
\nAt last I know I will always be
\nPart of a loving family<\/p>\n

Some of you may remember Chester who found a home last year.
\nHe was in rehab at the rescue for a long time and never allowed anyone to touch him.
\nHere he is on his first walk out with Debbie and just look at his tail wagging furiously.
\nIt has taken Debbie and Ian a year of gentle encouragement for Chester to let them stroke him, sit near them on the settee, put a harness and lead on him and now finally he can enjoy a walk everyday.
\nThey all get there in the end with lots of patience and kindness – even the most terrified and abused of the dogs we have in at the Rescue.<\/p>\n

Chester has found a home !<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

I am so very happy today because Chester who has been with us for nearly 16 months has gone off to his new home.
\nHe has gone to live with Debbie who has been with the Rescue since its beginning and she is going to bring him on at her place where he can have one to one encouragement.
\nChester is in the best of homes.
\nI will miss him but am delighted.<\/p>\n

Chester is still very nervous but has allowed Lianne to stroke him a couple of times and did have a play with her.
\nHe is not running off so much when people come to the house but still won’t go near them.
\nIt will take time but I hope soon he will feel comfortable enough to allow us to stroke him.
\nDue to how he was treated in his past it will take time and some dogs take a lot longer to come round than others.<\/p>\n

Chester is a 3 year old male Jack Russell who has had a rough time of it.
\nHe is a sweet little dog, great with the dogs in his foster home but very shy and timid of people due to his upbringing.
\nWhen this little lad trusts he will be a friend for life, he has the most handsome face.<\/p>\n

He will need some time with us to come out of himself and when he is feeling more confident we will take more photos of him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
