progress update: 20th July<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sammy will be going to his new home tomorrow!<\/p>\n

You were absolutely spot on about Sammy needing to be around another dog!
\nHis personality changed completely when we brought him back to be with the boys again.
\nHe was quite nervous but he has been affectionate and enjoys being stroked and tickled.<\/p>\n

He ate well when he was left alone with no distractions.
\nHe thinks men (well Mark) are lost sheep that need to be rounded up!<\/p>\n

Unfortunately he didn\u2019t take advantage of the garden & the nice weather this weekend.
\nThe big wide world was a bit much for him especially as it was windy.
\nHe would make a few brave attempts to go outside but frequently returned to the safety of the crate and was happy to stay there or keep me company in the lounge.
\nHe did have an extremely brave moment on sunday morning when he chased up the garden and back into the house three times in succession the look on his face was hilarious!<\/p>\n

Considering his dislike of going outside he was clean in the house.
\nI have never known a dog hold on so long between calls of nature without an accident.
\nWhat has he been used to? we ask ourselves!<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think he knows what to make of dog toys.
\nThe ball I left around for him got a few funny looks but his curiosity must have got the better of him because I later found it in his bed.
\nHe went off it again when he sat on it and it let out a long loud squeak!.
\nThe football also got some attention when he thought I wasn\u2019t looking but given his nervous disposition I removed it just in time to stop him popping it!
\nInstead he made his own fun by ripping up the newspaper I had put out in case of accidents.
\nHe was delighted when I presented him with his very own cardboard tube and a small box to destroy.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve just finished picking up the bits! (I think he\u2019s into recycling or paper mache)<\/p>\n

Sammy is about a year old and very affectionate.
\nHe will make a very loyal companion.<\/p>\n

He was kept in a very small pen with another puppy for most of his life.<\/p>\n

His only contact with people was when he was fed.<\/p>\n

As he was not socialised as a puppy he has taken a long time to trust people and get used to new surroundings and everyday objects.<\/p>\n

He was very unsure of himself when he was out of his familiar surroundings.<\/p>\n

He has made great progress and is beginning to show his real character.<\/p>\n

He loves his walks and is very good with other dogs.<\/p>\n

He needs a home where there is another dog as he has always been with one and it will give him the confidence that he lacks.<\/p>\n
