NFDOG Research Fund into New Forest Illness

The New Forest Dog Owners Group, worried about the mystery dog deaths from kidney failure,

has decided to set up a fund and collect donations to help facilitate further investigations into this disease.

More details at:

www.newforestdog.org.uk/researchfund

We [DAWGdogs] have also received word of a possible new case at St. Catherines Hill,

and so, although we stress that, as yet, we have been unable to get this report independently confirmed,

if you walk your dog/dogs in that area you may wish to avoid it for the time being as a precaution.

progress update: 11/1/14

Rocky is terrified of Callum and hides away so probably not a good idea to be with small children

he is also very nervous of men and if carrying umbrella or walking stick will not pass

he is a gentle giant and good in all other aspects and he is learning from dolly

progress update: 30/11/13

This is Rocky, he is settling in very well a little reserved at first but each day he is coming out of himself. loves attention, fuss and my little girl.
Rocky is also ignoring the cats in his foster home even though they are not so keen on him.
We feel that he needs a home with another dog for company as he is very insecure and gets on very well with other dogs

Rocky [the collie] is also a very sweet boy, he is quite reserved at first,

Rocky is very good with other dogs.

It never ceases to amaze me how forgiving these rescue dogs are, all day Cadbury has followed me round helping with the Ironing then cleaning the windows,

never wanting to leave my side and every chance he has got when he has been close enough he has everso gently licked my face or my hand,

this is a dog who was shut in a shed never to see the light of day or given proper food let alone any love, it really breaks your heart

Smokey along with his siblings are small dogs about the size of a Cocker Spaniel ( even though they look larger in their photos ) .
For those of you that are a bit fanciful and always looking for the cross of two different breeds in a dog , this bunch are complete mix ups of all sorts of dogs and as far as I am concerned this is always the best sort.
They are very sociable and gentle dogs. Which is amazing seeming as they were locked away in a shed and living in filth. They still need house training but that will come quick enough now they are in foster homes. They are a year old.

Hi Helen,

Not sure if this email will get through but I hope so as it would be good if you saw the dogs as they were when they were rescued, poor little mites never saw the light of day always locked in a filthy shed got little food or water until they were abandoned and seen wandering on the road . A friend of mine phoned me and we went and picked them up it would just break your heart to see them I still cry with I think back, no wonder the poor things are so dirty.
As always Helen thank you so much.
Oh it is so good to know they are now in good hands.
All the best,

Katie

Katie is one of the siblings that arrived to us last Sunday.

She gets on very well with other dogs and people and has enjoyed several nights sitting on the bar stool at the pub with Geoff in the evening.

She is not too sure what to think of his mates who seem to talk politics all the time which she is finding boring.

She is looking for a home that doesn’t talk politics.

New Forest dog illness update

Mystery Illness Update

There has been another death from the mystery illness.

A dog has had to be euthanised after falling ill, he had a lesion on his leg and the blood tests

initially showed no problems with his kidneys.

Sadly, a few days later he was very sick and this was the start of the renal failure.

He had been walked around the Holmsley area.

Anderson Moores have published an information sheet for dog owners regarding the mystery illness.
