Kiki & Henry

Kiki and Henry have now found a home together!!

Kiki and Henry were both unclaimed strays from a dog pound.
They arrived last November and Kiki was very badly matted and in a poor state.
Both were timid but are now much better especially Henry who is now full of confidence.
In the time they have been here Kiki has become quite dependent on Henry and as they get on so well we are looking for a home for them together.
Kiki is a Cocker-Poo and Henry a Chihuahua/Terrier mix.
Henry is around four-ish and Kiki probably a similiar age.
Both get on well with other dogs and were very good when meeting people during our fundraising before Christmas.

Little Kiki arrived last Sunday from the dog pound.
Very matted and scared to be stroked.
She will be going to the groomers to be de matted as it is too much for me to do.
Even under her paws in between the pads is matted.
She is becoming more brave and will even jump up sometimes to say “Hello ” to me.
Kiki will not be ready to be homed until the New Year.
Kiki is a Cocker Poo

Sam

Sam has now found a home !!

Sam arrived a week ago as an unclaimed stray.
He is settling in at his foster home and gets on well Yvonne’s dog.
Sam is around five and a Jack Russel size dog, we think a Yorkshire Terrier cross Terrier.
Yesterday he was at Pets at Home with Yvonne helping us with the fundraising and enjoying lots of fuss from the customers there

Eddie

Eddie has now found a home !!

Eddie has been in the Rescue for a couple of weeks now having arrived from a dog pound.
He is around 9 months old and gets on great with the other dogs.
He has not been treated well in his short life and will duck down or shrink away as if expecting to be hit.
He is better than he was and soon learns that a person wants to fuss him rather than hit him.
Lovely, lovely boy

Could you take a DAWGdog for a walk?

Our dogs are very lucky as we have fab volunteer dog walkers
(Lianne, Barry, Sara and Jane)
who take them out for very long walks, training and socialisation.

This also means that we get to know what they are like in different enviroments.
They are far more socialised when they go to their new homes.
By the time they have been on buses, taken car rides, gossiped with people in shops,
had weekends away watching tv with Lianne (who always lets them have the best spot to sit)
been taught manners and how to behave with Sara,
had a good hike to burn off pent up energy with Barry and Jane,
and visited coffee shops for a cuppa they are very different dogs to the ones that arrived into the Rescue.

This is why we do not home our dogs quickly.
We like to get know them a little more.

If you feel you could help by walking a dog or fostering even for a weekend please phone the Rescue on 01202 380467

Phoebe

Phoebe has now found a home !!

Phoebe is a Border Terrier and has been with us a few weeks now; an unclaimed stray from the dog pound.
She has really settled in well in her foster home and gets on with all the dogs she meets.
She is a young dog and is good with her foster Mum’s young grandchildren.
She was nervous for the first day after arriving and by the next day much more settled.

Ada

Ada has now found a home !!

Ada arrived into the Rescue having been an unclaimed stray.
She has been here for a couple of weeks now and settled in.
I don’t believe she has been treated that well in the past and neglected.
She has attached herself to Georgie since arriving.
Ada is really very sweet, clean in the house, gets on with other dogs.
She is becoming less nervous now and more confident.
Ada is 8 years old.
Her spine and ribs were prominent and she was quite underweight.
She is now nearly up to her correct weight

Georgie

Georgie has now found a home !!

Georgie arrived from the pound another unclaimed stray.
He was so thin I could feel all his ribs.
He is now much more the weight he should be.
Georgie is blind in one eye and has a slightly wonky leg.
He has seen the vet and does not need an op on the leg.
It is impossible not to love him and if I had room for another dog I would keep him myself

Buzz

Buzz has now found a home !!

Buzz has come from a home where he was much loved and well looked after.
He is a year old and a character.
He immediately got on with all the other dogs here and has great recall.
Was at first a little nervous but soon overcame this.
He has lots of energy and needs basic training.
