Pepper

Pepper has now found a home !!

progress update: 18/2/14

Pepper is 8 years old , a lovely girl. She gets on with dogs and children.

Peppa (1)

Pepper is such a lovely little girl, wants cuddles and to be with you.
She is clean day and night and sleeps to about 4/4.30 when she will let you know that she needs to go out for the toilet, but goes straight back to bed.
She has taken an interest in our rats and the local cats when she is sat on the window sill.
Pepper loves her walks and cuddles after when being dried.
She gets on well with Maddie our dog and loves the attention our boys show her.
She does as she is told, although can be cheeky when it’s feeding time and will sneak up behind you.
I haven’t let her off lead and she does pull, like most little dogs I see being walked!

Pepper

Meet Pepper, she has only been with us a couple of hours.
She’s asked to go out for the toilet, very sweet girl indeed.
Will update again when she’s settled

Toby the King Charles spaniel

Toby has now found a home !!

progress update: 16/2/14

We’ve had Toby for a couple of weeks now and he is a real character.
Before he settles down for a nap he looks around for something he can take and guard,  paper, tissue, plastic bag, hat. glove, towel, anything.
He then takes it to bed and looks at you as if to say “come and get it”.
We don’t, we wait till he falls asleep and then take it.
You can stroke and pet him when he is guarding as long as you don’t go near it.

He loves his walks and gets very excited and now he has lost a bit of weight he can even get all four feet in the air.
Toby loves to meet other dogs and will run the length of the field to say hello, but then usually looks to see where you are and then I can signal to him to come back as he is quite deaf so calling is no good.
He will chase the cat but he knows he shouldn’t as he runs away so could only live with a confident cat.
Toby makes me smile at least a couple of times a day with his foibles.
He would make an ideal companion for an older person who doesn’t have young children because of his guarding as he will snap if challenged.

Toby KCS (5)

progress update: 31/1/14

He’s quite a nice dog, gets on well with other dogs and although a bit possessive it’s not unmanageable.
I let him of the lead today and he came back easily enough.
He would suit an adult household.

Just arrived approx 8yrs old King Charles Spaniel, bit overweight so plenty of exercise needed.
More to follow once he has settled in with us.

Bella

Bella has now found a home !!

Bella

This is Bella who arrived at the rescue today, she is an 18 month old mixed breed.
More photos and information to follow once she has settled down in her foster home with Jackie

Bella(1)

From her foster Mum in Ireland :-

I’m getting a big lump in my throat reading this and seeing you mention Bella.
I was one of the rescuers and fostered her for a week myself.
She’s a superb little dog and would have taken her myself if I didn’t have 2 already.
She needs one on one attention for a while. Apart from the house training she learned sit, lie down, bed, keep in (walking on the footpath) and walks on the lead beautifully. She was part of a pack of 6 dogs running free on walks along the shoreline near my home and got on brilliantly with them all. She’s hugely affectionate, loves cuddles and is eager to please.
She will make a fantastic pet for some lucky person.
I have lots of pictures if you would like me to send them on. Here is one.. they have come such a long way from a nightmare beginning.
I’m so exited to see they’ll be there soon.
Thank you Eileen for all your help.
And to you Helen for taking them on.
They deserve a good life xx

Rocky the collie

Rocky has now found a home !!

progress update: 4/2/14

Rocky (1)

Rocky (6)

progress update: 11/1/14

Rocky is terrified of Callum and hides away so probably not a good idea to be with small children

he is also very nervous of men and if carrying umbrella or walking stick will not pass

he is a gentle giant and good in all other aspects and he is learning from dolly

progress update: 30/11/13

This is Rocky, he is settling in very well a little reserved at first but each day he is coming out of himself. loves attention, fuss and my little girl.
Rocky is also ignoring the cats in his foster home even though they are not so keen on him.
We feel that he needs a home with another dog for company as he is very insecure and gets on very well with other dogs

It never ceases to amaze me how forgiving these rescue dogs are, all day Cadbury has followed me round helping with the Ironing then cleaning the windows,

never wanting to leave my side and every chance he has got when he has been close enough he has everso gently licked my face or my hand,

this is a dog who was shut in a shed never to see the light of day or given proper food let alone any love, it really breaks your heart

Smokey along with his siblings are small dogs about the size of a Cocker Spaniel ( even though they look larger in their photos ) .
For those of you that are a bit fanciful and always looking for the cross of two different breeds in a dog , this bunch are complete mix ups of all sorts of dogs and as far as I am concerned this is always the best sort.
They are very sociable and gentle dogs. Which is amazing seeming as they were locked away in a shed and living in filth. They still need house training but that will come quick enough now they are in foster homes. They are a year old.

Hi Helen,

Not sure if this email will get through but I hope so as it would be good if you saw the dogs as they were when they were rescued, poor little mites never saw the light of day always locked in a filthy shed got little food or water until they were abandoned and seen wandering on the road . A friend of mine phoned me and we went and picked them up it would just break your heart to see them I still cry with I think back, no wonder the poor things are so dirty.
As always Helen thank you so much.
Oh it is so good to know they are now in good hands.
All the best,
