Blue has now found a home !!

progress update: 5/11/19

Today, I threw caution to the wind and deciding it was high time Blue ran off his energy properly I took him to the local heath and let him go.

He was perfect in his recall even on meeting other dogs and when he went around a corner out of sight I waited not calling him back to see what he would do. In less than a minute he was back to see where I was.

He met a Husky who can be a little unpredictable and my heart was in my mouth but as soon as the Husky growled at him and I called him back he came back with no reaction to the Husky’s aggression.

The next two dogs he met he bounded up to forgetting that he is larger than them and he played and then came straight back on recall.

He doesn’t exactly run hell for leather running energy off but sort of lopes ahead. On Thursday we are off to Upton Heath for a really long walk.

He could pull a bit but with the harness I have been using on him since Saturday he walks right by my side like a proper gent.

A lovely dog is Blue

progress update: 24/10/19
Blue has been with us a few weeks now and is a pleasure to have stay.
He and Riley get on famously and Blue is good with all the dogs he meets out on his walk.
Lianne recently took him on the bus with her and he was a great hit with the passengers walking up and down the aisle to say ” Hello ” to everyone individually. We have been told by the person who he was originally living with that he is good with children.
Blue has this week been fundraising at Pets at Home and was the model of good behaviour.
Blue has been off lead in an enclosed area and his recall is good.

What a perfect gent Blue is.
A really lovely boy who came to us after being found straying.
He is two years old and has settled in so well at the Rescue.
Blue clearly has some Lurcher in him along with a few other breeds I would think, lurcher types love a good run and then are content to couch potato the day away. He really is a pleasure to have here at the Rescue.
His eyes are an unusual amber/green and not as starey eyed as they look in the photos but quite soft and gentle eyes.

Ellie needs a home !!

Ellie has come from a home where she was much loved.
She has settled in with Mum Pat and her dogs.
Ellie prefers a quiet life.
She is three years old and a Yorkshire Terrier cross .
More to follow as we get to know her better.

If you may be able to offer a home

please call Helen on 01202 380467

Phone calls & messages are usually only taken during office hours Mon – Sat.

Emails and Facebook messages can usually only be responded to within 3 days,

so please be patient if you don’t get an answer straight away:

Helen is often too busy to explain how busy she is!

We usually only rehome within approx. 50 miles of the Bournemouth / Poole area
so that we can ensure the continued well-being of the dogs in our care.
We will only rehome further afield if the homes are exceptional.
We are NOT looking for just ANY home that is offered.
All potential homes will be assessed to try and ensure the best possible home
to cater for the differing needs of each individual dog that we rescue

Riley has now found a home !!

progress update: 24/10/19

Riley has come on well in his training and is now housetrained asking to go out to do his business.
Blue has taught him how well mannered dogs behave and how to play nicely.
He is clever and picks up on new commands and sits almost without being asked to and has been doing so since he was 10 weeks old.
He went off lead for the first time last week in an enclosed area and this means he is meeting new dogs of all shapes and sizes.
He comes when he is called which is very good for a puppy of his age having been let off lead for the first time.

progress update: 16/10/19

Riley went out for his first walk today with Lianne to help her dry the dog blankets Blue has wee’d on and he enjoyed this first excursion out.
He then visited Lianne’s hairdresser for a chat and was an instant hit with the salon people.
He also had a bus ride and enjoyed this very much too!

Riley was found at 8 weeks old straying.
Rather sad that he could be put out to fend for himself at just 8 weeks old.
He is now with us and needing a home.
He is a confident puppy and used to other dogs.
Typical puppy in that he loves to play, eat, sleep and then get up again for second round.
He is nearly housetrained now and even asking to go out.
He has has had his first vaccination and check over at the vet.
Lovely pup and great fun to be with.

Thank you to everyone who buys via Easyfundraising.
We have just received a cheque for £33.59
Easyfundraising has most UK retailers on their list and each time you buy online using their website a donation is made to an organisation of your choice.
It is easy to use and just means adding Dorset Animal Workers Group as the Rescue you would like to support.
