Patches

Patches has now found a home !!

progress update from Sheryl: 28th July 09

Today I took Patches out for the first time.
He was excited to be going out although slightly nervous once we got out the door.
We took a few steps outside and he wanted to go straight back home,
and was pulling in the opposite direction!
We walked (or should I say I was dragged!) down the road towards the Rec
where he continued to dart around in front tryng to get anywhere but near me.
He calmed down after a while but seemed a little concerned that he was walking
further from the Rescue and kept looking back.
Once we got to the Rec, Patches was slightly afraid of the other dogs and people approaching
him…that was until we got bombarded by 2 big shepherd dogs and their
owners!…
we spoke for a while and Patches cowered to the floor while the other dogs sniffed him-
He didnt seem to like it and had his tail between his legs-
He was scared bless him- but I ignored it in the hope he would relax.
The men I spoke with are there most evenings and we always stop to chat,
so this time we all walked together… Patches was like a new dog!
He came out of his shell and just wanted to play…more like the dog I had seen in the rescue,
he felt happy and was loving the company!
He was very happy to see all the other dogs that approached us and jumped about to play-
I didnt quite trust him to stay with me though so he stayed on the lead.
After a good 90 minutes he strolled home with a spring in his step! Much better!
Patches seems to be a very bouncy boy, who loves attention and walks.
He needs some lead training as he does pull and is stronger than he looks although
he is still slightly underweight.
Hopefully he will be worn out for his little stay over at the Fergusons and Ozzie’s house!
Night night Patches!

Patches is a pointer cross about 2 years old

He gets on very well with other dogs
