Oscar

“Just a quick mail to let you know that Oscar has settled in really well with us.
He is growing fast and the kids love him !
He is really well behaved for a puppy and was house clean again within a couple of days.
He still gives us a little spray when he is excited but I guess thats a compliment !”

Fozzy and Bernie

“Just to let you know ‘Bernie’ has settled in fine and he and my goldie
Fozzy are getting on really well. The cats aren’t so sure yet, but he
is fine with them. I shut him and Fozzy in the bedroom with me and he
slept on the bed all night!”

Ian

Progress update: April 27th

He loves going out and is really good off the lead

(not on the road of course)…

He loves the beach – but isn’t keen on getting his feet wet…

He’s got a lovely temperament and I know he will grow up to be a brilliant dog!

Kind regards

Ian

Lillie, Callie, Scooby and Raggle

These are the dogs that were with the rescue and live with the Kate and her family in the New Forest.

Every year the Fun Dog Show to raise money for the rescue is held at Pat and Nigel’s farm on the 1st Sunday in September.

Lilly was the first of our dogs to go to live with the family,

originally she was to be fostered until a home could be found but she managed to weedle her way into their hearts and has never left.

Lily has been a bit of a trial over the years stealing food from saucepans, her best was a bubbling casserole which she lifted off the hob in the saucepan, placed it on the floor and licked the pan clean.

Digging up Pat’s flower beds and refusing to carry out simple tasks at training classes.

Benson was the next dog that they adopted and he can be seen in the photos doing flyball.

Benson was a real character and accident prone,he was the first dog ever in training to eat the squeaky toy and after waiting to see if it emerged from the other end it was removed from his stomach by the vet.

Sadly last year Benson died after a battle against Cancer,

we all have fond memories of his eccentric ways.

Raggle was a timid collie that arrived into the rescue from Ireland.

Knowing Pat has a soft spot for collies it was only a couple of days before she was packing her suitcase and off to a new home in the forest.

Raggle has adjusted and is full of confidence and is a firm member of the house pack!

Charlie

A new pup arrived in today called Charlie

she is a Retriever cross Doberman,

12 weeks old and delicious.

Her family had permission from the landlord to have a dog but because a neighbour complained he changed his mind.

They loved her very much and were extremely sad to give her up.

Charlie has now gone to a new home!

Kimmy

Kimmy has gone to her new home with Sonya who adopted a dog from the rescue 12 years ago.

We know she will have a fantastic home with a lovely lady.

Sonya has kept contact with us over the last 12 years with updates.

Barney

“This is Barney. A lovely Boxer cross (maybe the other half is Pointer), he was found as a stray in Ireland & brought over here by the Dorset Animal Workers Group to save him from being put down. When I went to see him in his foster home he was quiet & affectionate, with the most adorable face. He played well with the other dogs & looked like he had the potential to get on with my 15 year old cat. I had my home visit that very same day & was approved. HURRAH !!

Two days later I set off to pick him up. Having watched many episodes of The Dog Whisperer on Sky 3 I was hoping to be able to take him for a long walk before taking him into the house, so he had ‘migrated’ & would know this was going to be his new home.

Best laid plans though…. It turned out Barney didn’t want to go outside & was extremely scared of getting in a car. So we ended up having a 2 minute walk to the end of the road & back, before I took him in his new house.
It took about a week of 2 walks a day before he would go to the front door under his own steam. Now it’s all wags & where’s my lead. The car is a different story, he is still petrified.

The cat has gone from being mildly interested, to distant, to indifferent to the new arrival. Barney, however, is still fascinated by the cat & needs a great deal of supervision when they are together.

I have contacted a local dog whisperer to come out & see if she can help with the car & the cat, so fingers crossed we can soon pop in the car for a nice walk on the beach without a second thought, as he loves it when there.
All in all he is a lovely dog & he is getting more settled everyday & I am sure we will soon be one happy band of human, dog & cat.

I’ll keep you posted.”

Clifford

“He is a very lively dog, and a little boisterous at times, but with such a wonderful nature about him, with a tail that never stops wagging!

He is in love with everyone and everything he meets, and seems to view life as one big adventure.

Due to his unusual markings, he is the centre of attention wherever we take him, which cliffy thrives on!

Everyone falls in love with him.

He particularly likes his walks on the forest, and his daily swim in the local pond, he just loves water.

Any puddle, stream etc he is straight in there, so its ideal that we live on the forest for him to play so often.

He is getting on well with the cat, though the cat is not quite so keen!

As I write, he is curled up asleep on the sofa with the log burner going, worn out from a day at home with Kelly.

He is an absolute pleasure to have around, the best company, and we couldn’t have wished for a nicer, so well adjusted dog, and can’t thank DAWG enough for giving us the opportunity to offer Cliff a home.

Best rgds,
Carl and Kelly”

Max

“I am contacting you to say thank you for letting us take Max into our family. He has settled in really well and is such a lovely dog. He is no longer shy of people or other dogs and is so well behaved. I have attached a couple of pictures of him so you can see he is well and happy.

Thanking you again.

Dave

Dave is a year old Chihuaha cross.

He sometimes forgets that he is a small dog and tries to throw his weight around which of course the other dogs find hilarious.

Dave loves his walks and is always game for a hike in the country.

Update 1st april 2008:

Good news!

Dave has gone to live forever with Tracy who originally fostered him.

At this point we are not sure whether she is going to change his name or not! =)
