Mystery dog Illness confirmed Puddletown / Wareham

This came via Lynwood Veterinary Group:

Kirk, the black Labrador has been a recent victim of cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy also referred to as New Forest Disease and Alabama rot.
Kirk sadly lost his battle with this disease on 6th March 2014.
Kirk was walked in the Dorchester and Purbeck area.
In the light of this further case we would like to highlight to everyone to check your dogs regularly for any unexplained wounds on the legs and face and to seek veterinary attention if you notice anything.
Cases only seem to occur between December and March and only small numbers of dogs are affected overall.
As Kirk was only walked locally in the Puddletown Woods and Wareham Woods, we would like to highlight to dog owners that this disease is not restricted to the New Forest.
Therefore it is important to check your dogs regularly for any wounds and monitor particularly for lethargy and reduced appetite.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate in contacting your local branch of Lynwood Vets.
