Rua

Rua has now been rehomed !!

Rua is approx 4-5 yr neutered female small collie.

Her story is a sad one. Her first owner died and she was locked in a car for months. After being rescued she was rehomed with a loving woman who also died recently. Rua was alone with this lady after she passed away for 4 days and was fairly traumatised as you can imagine.

She is a very gentle and loving affectionate dog who wants special love and attention, she is house trained and despite being very timid is a loyal companion who learns to trust very quickly.

Her new owner must be prepared to keep her in the house, and she would be better suited to someone who is at home most of the day, a quite easy going house hold is preferable. she is at present interacting with other dogs and doing well.

In view of her unsettled history only genuine committed people should consider this special dog who has touched so many hearts.

Rua is currently in Ireland but if a suitable home can be found for her here she will be brought to the Rescue in the near future.

In the circumstances we would prefer for her to go straight into a home rather than spend time either at the Rescue or a foster home.

Southbourne Fun Day Dog Show 2009

On the 6th June we were invited by The Southbourne Traders Association to run
a dog show at their annual Fun day.

Angela, Colin, Claire, Jane, Jeremy, Sharon, Georgina, Joy and Allen kindly
offered to organise and run the show.
They all pitched in on the day to ensure that this ran smoothly and was a great success.
Everyone who went to the show with their dogs had a great day out.
I can’t thank them enough for stepping in and offering to do this for the
rescue, especially as these wonderful people also foster dogs for the
rescue, take them to vet appointments and still have time to fit in
work and family life.
Thank you so much.
They raised £137.00 on the day which a fantastic amount for a small show.
Claire took photos on the day and anyone interested in having a copy
of a photo of their dog at the show please contact us and we will try
to arrange this for you.

other dogs so would be better in a home with other dogs, he has been

playing with my dog frankie and they play really well considering they

have just met,

He is great around my 2 young kids they are 3 and 7 and

he is not really bothered about my 2 cats, he is so lovely so I’m sure

he will go very quickly, he loves a good run around, Helen tells me he

is good on the lead, and i think he will make a great family pet.

A BIG THANK YOU TO NICKY AND KEVIN !!

Nicky and Kevin  raised £85.00 for the
rescue by selling cakes on a stall.

Nicky and Kevin have also fostered several dogs for us and we would
like to thank them for  paying for the food costs out of their own
pocket.

The money raised by them paid one of our vet bills which was a great
help to the rescue funds.

WE WOULD ALL LIKE TO THANK THEM VERY MUCH INDEED !!

Missing: Chip – Border Collie

Chip, a plump and elderly collie took fright in his master’s yard at Sky End Lane, Hordle, slipped his collar and took off.
He has a massive black and white coat, and no top front teeth.
He is new to the area, being a rescue, but he is micro-chipped.
Needless to say his owner is frantic, especially with him out there in all this heat.

If you see or hear about Chip can you either contact me or better still, his owner, Margaret Eldridge on either 02380 264195 or 07895 830395.
His owner does not have email.

Lily

Lily has now been rehomed !

progress update: 7th June 09

Lily looks very happy at her new home !

progress update : 9th June 09

Lily has gone to her new home today !

I am about 2 years old and have been fostering with Jane for two months. I was taken into a pound to be put to sleep so as you can guess I had a lucky escape. Jane says that I am the easiest dog that she has ever fostered, I am good when left in the house, now house trained and I only ever chew my lead when left, never anyone else’s belongings. Jane can even leave a bag of rubbish on the floor and I won’t touch it.

The people at the Rescue thought I was a Boxer Cross but they have been told I am an
American Bulldog. Helen said a dog is a dog and who cares about what breed I am, she has a soft spot for my breed as she once had a dog like me in the rescue called Buster and she would of kept him if she could. He used to foster the puppies and they slept curled up round his neck. Helen told Jane that I have the same temperament as Buster. I love other dogs and when off the lead forget myself when playing with them and Jane has to come and get me when she wants to walk on.

Last week Helen came over and took photos and video off me playing with my ball which she will put on the website so watch this space. Someone came to see me this week I would loved to have gone to live with her and she thought I was gorgeous but a little too big for her small garden. Never mind someone will turn up for me.

Lily is a two year-old boxer cross.

She is quite good off the lead but needs a bit more training.

She gets on well with other dogs.
