Hi Helen,
A quick update on Tara (aka Nell)…
This photo was taken a week ago in the back garden & as you can see Tara is modelling her new waterproof coat!!!
She adores playing catch with her ball & maybe in the future, when she is completely over her shyness, she will excel ay Flyball.
She is doing fantasically well & we love her to bits!! xx

Hi Helen,

I thought I’d give you the latest news on Tara (aka Nell).
She is doing so very well. Has hardly any mishaps during the night & even if she does she spends a penny on her dog pad on the kitchen floor.
She has turned into a guard dog extraordinaire!
She evens woofs gently as the neighbours when she see them through the hedge in the garden.

She has now stopped doing baby growls when I’m out walking with her when she sees someone.
She is absolutely fine with other dogs but her mistrust of people is lessening slowly.
She regualrly comes with me to visit a neighbour’s house, which is helping with her socialisation.
I only have to say the neighbour’s name now & she is wagging her tail and coming forward to have her lead put on.

We continue to be smitten with her – thank you so much.

Best wishes,
Marcelle

Hi again Helen,

I am now back in Christchurch & delighted to see Tara again – and to see how well she is progressing.

She is much less timid going out in the garden on the lead for her walk to do her business – and is nearly over her fear of going through open doors. She has taken to sharing her time between me & Dad – happily strolling from one room to the other to visit one of us for strokes – which is a huge improvement as before she ‘scooted’ everywhere!

Her house training is going well – but still a way to go – which will all come in good time.

In the last few days she has learnt commands such as ‘come’, ‘wait’ and ‘sit’. Such an intelligent little girl – especially when you consider she has never had any training!

Maybe in the months to come we will venture out to an Introduction Agility Day, or something similar. I think she would excel at that and really enjoy it.

Many thanks again! Will keep in touch.

Best wishes,
Marcelle

Hi Helen,

Thought I’d drop you line to tell you how well Nell is doing in her new home…

Dad and I have renamed her Tara – as we thought it really suited her and she’s responding to it already! She has worked out that the nice big doggie bed and duvet in the kitchen are hers & loves snuggling up in there with her toy panda. She’s also beginning to show an interest in playing with a tennis ball – such great progress for a dog who has never had any toys!

She is now following Dad around the house and lying next to him wherever he is sitting – and loves all the strokes she’s getting. She decided to help herself to my previous dog’s teddy bear toy from one of the chairs in the sitting room today – so she must be feeling at home!

Dad is delighted with her and is so happy to have a dog in the house again. I’m moving down to live with Dad at the end of next week & can’t wait to see Tara again. She’ll get double the fuss and cuddles then.

So many thanks for everything – we’ll keep in touch and let you know how she’s getting on.

Best wishes,
Marcelle

Nell has now found a home !!

progress update: 19/9/12

Nell , a two year old Collie, arrived just a few days ago and already she has become more confident and curious.
Very timid at first but is exceptionally good with our own dog.
Loud noises bothered her but in our busy household she had to get over that quickly.
Very good walking on the lead, only walked on the lead as she has not been spayed,
a bit concerned at mealtimes in case someone else eats her food, but over
that now..
Had a bath today – that was fun! But fluffy now.
More news to follow.

Nell is a two year old small Collie girl.
She is nervous around men, has a sweet and gentle nature and gets on with dogs.
Nell is still settling into her foster home who will send in a write up on her and
photos when she has had time to settle down.
