I went to visit dear Jackson in his new home to see how he was getting on.
What a difference – his hair was growing back before he left and with Diane keeping up his regime of treatment and baths he now has all his hair back and it is glossy and healthy.
He only has a bath once a month and doesn’t need the Advocate anymore.
Jackson had Demodectic Mange notoriously hard to treat but this treatment worked.
He didn’t have the horrible chemical baths which make the skin so sore.
If you are interested in how we treated his mange then feel free to email me at the rescue.
Jackson was with me here at the rescue for eighteen months when he
arrived back into us he was in a terrible state with open bleeding sores, crusty skin and no hair.
Poor Jackson, in so much pain but so tolerant of me creaming his sores and bathing him and they say Bull
breeds can’t be trusted !!
It was a wrench for me to let him go to Diane and I very nearly didn’t let her have him.
Diane told me he was despondent for several weeks after he left to live with her and I
still feel guilty about this. But, I know how much Diane loves him and he is happy with her now, my job was done.
Each dog that comes here takes a little bit of my heart with them but some like Jackson take a bit more.

Yes, after having the lovely Jackson living with me for 18 months he has now found a home.
It was a wrench to let him go and I nearly caved in a few times but remained strong.
In the time he has been with me from when he arrived covered in open, bleeding sores and with no hair at all his hair is growing back very well and his skin is soft again.
Diane who has adopted him went off this evening with supplies of his special shampoo, food, tablets and all his supplements so she can continue to keep his treatment up.
She has promised to send updates and photos.
His hair has regrown incredibly and he now has hair on his chest and it is almost all over his body.
Jackson has Demodectic Mange so for those of you that have a dog with this there is hope and if you would like to know how I treated him and got him to this point I am happy to talk to you just email me at the rescue

Mutley has told me that all worthy Bull Terriers gobble their meal down at a 1000 mph then sit patiently next to someone else’s dinner plate waiting for scraps – as you can see I am a avid pupil of his teachings.
Official progress update from Helen: 20/8/11
Photos of Jackson with Scarlet one of his walking companions.
Scarlet is wearing the wellies that Dooley gave her!
Jackson is a lovely dog, good with children, cats and other dogs.
He still has skin problems but this is something that time and care should sort out.
Jackson is loyal and affectionate, good off the lead and travels well in the car.
Viki has taken some photos of him on his walk sporting his new pink collar -not sure he is particularly enamored with being made to wear a pink collar but someone chewed up his red one and it was the first one that Helen grabbed to put on him for his walk.
Anyway, none of the dogs he met out laughed at him so he was happy enough to wear it just this once.
He needs a home that is prepared to continue his skin treatment which the rescue will pay for and also one that will give him lots of time and love to settle him down.
He has been at the rescue a long time and is quite attached to Helen and she to him.
Mutley’s unofficial progress ‘updates’ featuring Jackson have now been moved to a new section of the website:

progress update: 4/3/11
This is the scrummy Jackson who every night likes to gather up his treasures and put them on his bed.
Jackson greets every visitor dog or human with a gift of one of his treasures be it a toy or favourite bone
( he has three bones at the moment)
Jackson is still under treatment for Demodectic Mange and even though it looks like he doesn’t have much hair he does have a soft downy covering.
I have sent this update as Jackson is a Staffy cross and they have such a bad reputation and Jackson loves everyone , maybe it is prudent to remember the saying ‘ Deed not Breed ‘
He had demodectic mange which is very difficult to treat but his hair is growing back and he is now enjoying walks on the beach.

Hi helen just a quick update on jerry, this little chap has stolen all
out hearts with his kind nature and his zest for life, Jerry is always
on the go, either playing with a toy by himself or playing with my
other dogs, he has a lot of energy for such a tiny dog, and has us
in stitches with his funny antics.
Jerry is clean and quiet in the house, he sleeps in his crate through
the night with no problems at all he also travels well in the car,
Jerry very much enjoys the company of my children who are aged 10 and
above, and will spend all day playing football with my
older son, I cannot praise this boy enough he really is a delight to
have around, and will make a lovely companion.
Jerry cannot be homed with small furries or Cats.
Regards
Niki

Georgie is a 8-9 week old Cairn X.
He is a beautiful little boy, very sweet who loves his cuddles.
He was clean and quiet in his crate overnight and is doing well with
his paper training.
Not much more to say at this point as he hasn’t been with us long.
He is yet to meet the cats but due to his age (and size) I don’t think
it will be a problem!
Thanks,
Tanya

Hello Helen,
Syd has grown up fast
He is a very good boy I think the training has helped a lot because going makes you stay on top of things!
Walking to heel on the lead still isn’t a strong point but off the lead he is brilliant and I would rather it that way round.
He has learnt lots of other things too! He and Jessie are best friends, she is still the boss but they love each other a lot.
He has settled in so well is no longer car sick we go out in the car everyday and he loves it.
The forest is his favourite place to be though and as that’s where I work we get to enjoy it every day.
Kind regards
Emma

I thought I’d let you know how I’m getting on in my new home.
I’ve settled in quite well I have a lovely big bed all to myself though I sometimes let the midget share with me.
She’s a bossy little thing but we have lots of fun together. Below you can see us out on one of our nice walks.
We have been doing some training with emma using a whistle we are very good at it and it keeps us busy. were doing some basic gun-dog training (just for fun) jess is quite good even though shes not really a gun-dog but I’m getting the hang of it and she backs me up.
Here I am on another walk I go to work most days which is good because I get lots of nice walks on the forest, I give the ponies and cows a wide birth though! Emma says this is good as jessie (the midget) always try’s to play with them and in my opinion they are far to big for us! I love the forest though there’s so much room to play and so many smells its like heaven.
So after a long days work (most of which I spend asleep) shhh don’t tell Emma, I like to play lots and jump all over emma and tom before sleeping some more in my cosy bed and snoring sooooo loud that Emma can hear me upstairs lol but I’m asleep so I don’t care!!! He he he.
Anyway I think it’s time you came and got me because this Christmas thing has gone to her head and she’s making me wear this stupid hat! silly women! Though she says I’m gonna get lots of presents on the day so I might forgive her. She’s not so bad I guess. I let her think she’s in charge but really she’s wrapped around my paw.
Anyway just wanted you to know that I’m happy in my new home and I’m being a very good boy! (As long as I get my walks) so no need to worry about me. Good luck with finding homes for all the other dogs and tell them not to worry because I know you’ll find them good homes too. Thank you for finding me mine.
Happy Christmas
Love Syd xxx

Syd aka Oliver Twist has come back to the rescue.
The family that adopted him are devastated that they had to return him to us due to a serious allergy to dog hair.
Syd is now five months old and adorable as ever.
A fantastic dog who gets on with dogs, cats and children.
Oliver is a eleven week old Springer Spaniel bundle of loveliness.
His ribs were showing and he was a scared bundle when he arrived two weeks ago,
he is now ready to look for his forever home.
Cassie is a Jack Russel sweet tempered girl who gets on with dogs.
Connor arrived into the rescue on Saturday
He was on his last day at the dog pound and got out by the skin of his teeth.
He is about a year and a half approx, very thin and will need to put on weight.
He gets on very well with other dogs and loves to fussed ( don’t we all )
He pulls a bit on the lead in his eagerness to get out into the world for a long walk.
He is very affectionate, quiet and well behaved in the house.
Terry is adorable, he’s sweet, playful and loves life and other dogs and people.
Terry is a small dog with a bit of Corgi in him.
He has a zest for life and is interested in all that is happening around him.

Just a quick update on Mickey, what a lovely looking boy he is.
Very sweet and gentle all he wants to do is sit on your lap and have a cuddle.
Hi, I am Mickey and I arrived this week along with my brother Murphy.
I think Murphy has already mentioned that we came from a farm where other dogs were doing the farm work and we weren’t needed.
It was quite cushy laying in in the morning while the other Collies wee getting up for work at crack of dawn.
I am staying at Heleanor’s house with Winstone, two other dogs, chickens, cats, rabbits etc etc.
No Terrible Terrier here bossing me about!
