Hi Helen,

She walks nicely on lead and is a bit nervous around other dogs.
She has been very well behaved with my children but is yet to meet the cats.

Kenzie is still looking for a home.
Kenzie is a gentle dog and we would love to find him a home that loves him.

Hi Helen,

Just a quick update on Kenzie. This boy is such a big hunk of love . All he wants is to be with you and please. A pleasure round the house clean and quiet. Enjoys his walks . Has learnt to leave the rabbits , guinea pigs and chickens alone but will still bark at the cats ( in a playful way, but they don’t want to play) He is happy to be left for a couple of hours. He is happily living with my dogs and is a real hit with my four teenage boys and there friends.

He is clean and quiet in the house.

Kenzie is five years old and a Boxer cross Labrador.
He is quite a large dog but what an absolute softie he is.
He is marvelous with all dogs he meets and good with children we were told by the lady who handed him into us. Kenzie has lived at a pub when in his old home ad so is very sociable.
He also loves going to the pub it reminds him of old times.
He is a strong dog with quit a pull when he is walking.
If I didn’t already have my two dogs I would keep him in a instant.

Hi Helen and all at DAWG!!!!

Well its been just short of a year now since I moved in here and I’m still happy :) My family are really nice (most of the time but they don’t give me enough sweets :@) and we’re having lots of fun together! I have been on holiday a couple of times which was really good, I liked going into the countryside and following my nose for miles but I wasn’t too sure about the sheep…..I thought they’d make good friends but Mum and Dad said ‘NO’!!!! I have been going to my training classes still and getting on really well, I got my puppy award and my bronze award and I got to be a calendar girl for the club too….I’m Miss June :) Mum and Dad took me to have my spaying done, I was really cross with them for that….It hurt but I forgave them when they gave me some nice roast chicken!!!!!
I’m still not happy to be left alone but I’m learning to be brave and remember that they do come back, and I’m still very fond of the sound of my own voice (or that’s what Mum says).
I have lots of friends, both dog and human and enjoy a good charge around with anyone willing; young or old, big or small especially on the heath or the beach and I love doing the school run with Mum because I have lots of children fussing over me, rubbing my tummy :D
My recall is getting better all the time and I’m learning much better manners for when I’m on the lead too….Mum says her back doesn’t hurt nearly as much!!! I’ve grown and put on plenty of weight too but I burn off lots of energy chasing after a naughty squirrel that likes to sit on my fence in the garden and seeing off the pigeons that try to eat the little birds food. I spend lots of time chewing up boxes and bottles for the recycling but my favourite thing is to pull all the stuffing out of my toys and spread it all over the carpet! Dad gets a bit cross about that but I don’t know why :)
Mum takes lots of photos of me and I’ve sent you some of my favourite ones so you can see how happy and big I am now.

Lots of love and licks to you all and thank you from me and my family

Freckles xxxx

progress update: 17/4/11

Hi Helen

I’ve been with my new family now for nearly 3 months and I like it here!
I’m still a big handful but Mum and Dad say I’m getting there slowly but surely.
I spend lots of time running around in the garden and I like watching the children on the trampoline, I would like a go but they all say no.
I have started going to training classes which are lots of fun as I get to run around a big field a lot and play with other dogs…Mum says I’m meant to be learning but I think thats boring!!!
I get to go for lots of walks on the heath and I love all the different smells I find up there…my nose is always busy.
I’m still very scared of being left on my own but I’m getting better and am starting to trust that they will come back.
I’m still very noisy (or so they say) but I am learning that my voice is sometimes a bit too loud!!!!
All in all I like my new family and my family like me so I’m happy and they’re happy (most of the time…lol)

Thank you for finding me my home and thank you from my family for letting me come to them

Lots of licks

Freckles has found a home !!

Hello, I arrived into the rescue on Sat I bounced in and made friends with Patches and Flash straight away.
I am a Cocker spaniel cross Beagle apparently, though I heard Helen saying it is hard to be sure what a dog is but I put my nose to the ground and go selectively deaf like a Beagle.
A lady took me for a walk to day and told Helen I was very trainable and that I picked up quickly on what I was being told to do.
I love the other dogs here apart from when Patches and Flash who gobble their dinner down in 5 secs flat then hang around my bowl waiting for a chance to steal my dinner.
I ignore them and Helen tells them to back off.
I cried a bit when I first came here but by bedtime had settled into a comfortable bed for the night it helped that Helen stayed up very late so that I could have the light on for extra time.

Mitchell and Bailey (a.k.a Vinnie)

Mitchell and Vinnie have both now found homes !!

progress update on Vinnie (now Bailey) : 23/6/12

Hi Helen, just a message to let you know how Bailey’s settling in to our home.
It’s 10 days since we picked him up from Tanya’s and he’s come on leaps and bounds and really getting his confidence.. infact he’s a mischevious little so and so,but we all think he’s great.
We’ve managed to get him to sit,lay down and walk to heel almost perfectly.
His recall is good now, we’ve let him off his main lead, and have a long lead that we run with him with, checking his recall, which is getting better by the day.
He’s playful and we’re really loving having him here.
I’ve attached some recent pictures of him.
I love the way his tongue sticks out when he’s sleeping!
Kind regards,Anni

progress update on Vinnie: 28/5/12

Hi Helen,

I have attached a few photo’s of Vinnie for you.
He has settled in really well and has a very sweet nature.
He loves the children and is incredibly gentle with them.
He adores cuddles and loves to have his tummy tickled!
He walks well on the lead and is adapting well to his surroundings.
He is very vocal around the cats but hasn’t shown any signs of aggression towards them.

I will update again shortly,
Tanya

Dear Helen

As you can see she has settled in and is just finishing her Novice training course.

Sue, Dave and Libby

Libby has now found a home !!

progress update: 16/6/12

Hi Helen here is an update on Libby

Libby has been fostering with us since Wednesday and has slotted in perfectly, she is such a sweet natured girl eager to please and extremely loving, she is clean and quiet in the house, happy to be crated, travels well in the car and can be left.

Libby also gets on well with other dogs she meets on our walks and is very good around children, she will make a wonderful addition to any family, we all adore her.
regards
Niki

Libby is a two year old Collie who was found straying and taken in.
She had been seen for several days in the same place as if she was waiting for someone to return for her. We think that she was dropped off and left as it was a rural area.
She gets on with other dogs, more to follow once she has settled in

Halle

Halle has now found a home !!

Halle is a 12 week old girl Collie type puppy.
Her mother is a working farm dog working cattle.
The farm and the family who own it are lovely people and the Halle and her two brothers Sparky and Spot liked to sit in the field twice a day and watch their Mum work.

Amber

Amber has now found a home !!

Hi Helen,

Please find attached a few photo’s of the Lab X who arrived this morning.
I’m not sure if she has a name (?) but we have been calling her Amber.
She is a friendly little girl (Lab size) who so far, has been good with the other dogs, cats and the children.
However, she is very playful and would probably be best suited to a family with older children.

Thanks,
Tanya

Mia

Mia has now found a home !!

Mia is a 2 year old Brindle SBT with an exuberant personality and lots of energy.
She likes nothing more than a good run followed by lots of fuss from her owners.
She is food oriented so will do anything for a tasty treat.

Mia has been socialised with other dogs and plenty of people from birth, and she is super friendly with both other dogs and people.
She can become over excited with new people or situations so will need an experienced owner to work with her.

Mia is good with children. She currently lives in a household with a 9 month old.
She is very gentle when told to be, but would need supervision around children as all dogs do.

Mia is house trained, crate trained from a puppy, and can also do tricks for food rewards or a good pat on the back. She already knows how to sit, stand, lie down, stay, ‘kiss’ (lick hand), give her paw, speak (bark), watch (eye contact), find, fetch and roll over on command.
She is very trainable if you would like to teach her other commands.

Mia travels well in the car if you like to take road trips.
She has no health issues to date.

Mia is spayed and fully up to date with her vaccinations.
She has been trained to only play with her own toys, and if you say ‘leave’ she will not slobber on or chew anything that isn’t hers!

Mia is a lovely dog that will be missed by her family who are going to live overseas.
