Millie

Millie has now found a home !!

progress update:8/4/12

Millie sunning herself in the garden and playing with the cat although she won’t share her ball.

progress update:
We’ve had Millie a couple of days now and she’s a lovely little girl.
She hasn’t learnt to use the cat flap yet but is clean none the less.
She loves playing ball but is learning that I won’t play tug of war with it and will only throw it again when she drops it.
Millie is fine with our cat even when the cat launches herself on Millie’s back trying to play with her.
She would make a wonderful companion in an adult home.

This is Millie who arrived last night.
She is about 4 years old and is speyed.
We went to the park this morning and met up with the usual suspects who she got on with once off the lead.
She loves chasing a ball but was a bit confused at first not knowing who to return it to!!
Millie has met our cat and ferrets and is fine with both.

Will update when I know her a bit better

Tina

Tina has now found a home !!

Tiny Tina with her favourite teddy

Just arrived, Tina a very small JRT.
A little shy with people but good with other dogs, enjoys her food and chewy bones.
Tina is about 18 months old a little shy at first but soon comes out of her shell.
Loves other dogs and loves lots of cuddles.
She is a bit of a rascal and will run off with slippers, plant pots or flip flops
and settle down for a bit re-designing of them.

Ruby

Ruby has now found a home !!

Hi, I am Ruby and I arrived at the rescue on Friday.
I have settled in very well here and love all the dogs that I am sharing house space with.
Rocco is showing me the ropes he told me it is important not to throw blankets on the floor or pee on Helen’s planters in the garden. As if I would !!!!!
I have just been for my first walk off the lead and Helen was sooooo pleased with me.
I am two and a half years old and even if I say myself am a happy little dog by nature.

This is me and Rocco sharing his bed.
Helen’s camera phone isn’t up to much so it doesn’t show us looking our best.
I thought Rocco could have brushed his hair before he posed for it!

Frisbee

progress update: 1/4/12

Frisbee will be going to her new home tomorrow!!

Hello Everyone! My name is Frisbee.
I am a gorgeous friendly little boy looking for a family to love me.
I am approximately 4/5 months old and I look like a greyhound;
but as i don’t remember anything about my mum and dad,
it is probably best to describe me as a Heinz 57 (as I get older my size and shape could change).
I am very sociable and love other dogs, children and cats.
The little children I am staying with love to lead me round the house by my collar, I love playing games with them and am happy to do anything they ask.
I have learnt to sit on command and now that I know I am going to be fed every day I am much better behaved around food (and do not try and steal the cats food off the worktops!).
I walk nicely on the lead and really enjoy a good run off the lead,
but I get a little bit confused when there are lots of people and dogs around, so you may need to shout very loudly and call my name so that I can find you again!
If you think that i would complete your family, please call Helen at the rescue to arrange a visit to meet me.

Barnie

Barnie has now found a home !!

progress update: 27/3/12

Hi Helen,

Barney came to live with us from his foster Mum, Angela, on Wed 14th of March, and we haven’t looked back.
He is a real character, he comes to work with me and lays in the office unless one of my residents comes in and then he gets lots of fuss. As you may remember I work at a sheltered housing scheme with the elderly and they love him to bits, I dont think I will need to buy any dog treats again!!!

As you can see from the attached photos, we took him to the beach today and finally got him to go in the sea to retrieve his ball he met lots of dogs, big and small and seems to cope as long as he has his eye on the ball I’m carrying.

Thanks

Nikki

progress update: 1/2/12
Hi Helen,
Just a quick update on Barny.
I took him up to the field last Saturday and he thoroughly enjoyed himself,
running around and playing with the other dogs and helping me plant our small cider orchard !!
On Sunday I took him out for his first run (more like a jog really),
he started to get the idea pretty quick,
did not go too far away and we took it in turns carrying his tennis ball !!
Cheers Colin

progress update: 21/1/12
Barnie is still looking for his new family.
He continues to respond to all his training with great results, and clearly enjoys having things to do to keep him occupied.
He is keen to please, and loves human companionship, so would probabaly be happy as an only dog, as he can be quite pushy with the other dogs in the home.
He really enjoys his walks and playing with his ball, and has proved himself to be very popular with our neighbours and friends as he loves human attention so much.
So come on give Helen a call and come and meet Barnie!

Barney is a nine month old collie x who who has come to the rescue due to a family split.
At the moment Barney is staying with Angela and her family which includes three dogs of different ages and two adults .
Barney now has good recall and has some good manners i.e. he knows sit, stay, down and come, he is still learning that he has to wait until asked to go through a door instead of charging through as he always wants to be in the front or right in the middle of what’s going on.
He sleeps uncrated though the night and is clean .
After his playtime he walks great on the lead but is still pulling before he has had a chance to burn off his energy,so this is something to work on.
He travels well in a car though when he first goes in he is wary and needs a little time before you take his lead off or shut the door -I just tell him its ok and within mins he is fine.
Barney is so much better when he meets new dogs both on and off the lead all you have to do is the 10second rule – meet greet and walk-on.
Barney is a typical collie he loves his ball and becomes very focused on it.
Unfortunately I would not rehome him with young children as there is still so much for him to learn.
He would benefit from a collie savvy person to bring out the best in him, though as long as someone would be willing to give him the exercise, love, patience and attention that he so needs and wants.
So if you think this very handsome young boy is for you then give Helen a call.

Buster

Busters’ family have managed to find a home that will enable them to keep him so he is very pleased to be back with them again !!

Buster came into DAWG the other day , Buster is with us through no fault of his own but as I have met his previous family he was clearly very much loved and clearly will be missed, and I have assured them that we will find him another loving home.
Here is his doggy CV.

Name….Buster ..really like my name so would prefer to keep it,
Breed…Terrier x Terrier x Terrier
Colour…Cream with flashes of grey ( coat turns to grey when I charge into ponds ), I have been clipped but my hair is normally mid length, Steve said I look like a toy bear.
Size……Im a sturdy chap but very cuddly
Faults…..None so far.
Character…Very friendly, good with other dogs but I will tell those off with a polite bark when they get annoying ( re: tom Steve’s dog) love socialising , being bouncy , great in the car but I want to explore soon as car door opens, loves food ( especially Steve’s Ginger Nut biscuits…wasn’t me Steve), likes walking ( I could walk for England) , running on beach ( getting wet) great recall ( I will trot off but I always come back when called or your out of view) I also sleep very well at night in my crate with door open. oh and I like TV .
Finally , I have been described of being a “proper”dog ? think they mean I can be what ever you want me to be .

This chap is just faultless , I think he needs a home where he can get lots of exercise where he can come home and cuddle on the sofa ( if allowed), in a family with children over the age of 7 (as he is very playful but in an adorable way) or someone who lives on there own.
Buster has been very tolerant of my dogs and others.

Pickles

Pickles has now found a home !!

progress update: 23/3/12

Hi Helen,

An update on Pickles, we have decided to change his name to Biggles. Pickles is a great name while he’s a cute puppy but looking at his paws we think he’ll grow into a Big boy. Due to the similarity he hasn’t noticed the change.
Biggles has settled in very well there were just 2 nights of crying and he’s now quiet and dry throughout the night.
We all love him and he has really taken to all the family. He loves to play in the garden and is getting regular short works, nothing has phased him he’s very polite with other dogs. He has seen people riding on horses, bicycles, noisy lorries, and by the river he’s seen an otter.
The purbec gun dog school in wareham have a puppy socialisation on the 8th April and my daughter and I are planning to attend.
We managed to get him to sit still in the garden for 2 seconds to take a photo of him.

Kind regards
Paul

Hello Everyone! My name is “Pickles”.
I am a 16 week old liver & white English Springer boy.
I am an adorable little chap (or so I have been told) who loves everyone.
I get on brilliantly with other dogs, cats and children.
I love having my tummy tickled and being taken for walks.
I’m only a baby though and have been told that I pull on the lead and need to learn to behave myself a bit better, but everything is so exciting that I just can’t help myself!
I’m sure that with some training I would soon learn to walk nicely like the other dogs (as I’ve also been told that I’m quite clever!).
If you think you could offer me a loving home, please call Helen at the rescue x x
