Barney will be going to his new home later this week !!

progress update from Claire: 17th Nov 09

Barney has just met Marley. Tony is so pleased with Marley, he’s got him in the van with his choice of waterproof coat or fleece!. He did recognise me and got very excited to say hello.

I took Barney for his first proper walk today. His foot doesn’t seem to trouble him at all. He pulls quite a bit and is desperate to chase birds. He’s very play bitey at the moment which I’m trying to stop. He likes toys so I can get him to chew on those instead of my hands most of the time.
He cried alot sunday night but has been quiet since. He is still quite a puppy!
He was a bit fussy about dry food only, so I got some tins. He likes his meat and his tummy has been fine on it.
He will go in the crate when he wants to but when I want him to it’s a game for him, where he tears off in the other direction sending his water bowl flying. He settles down alright though. He is friendly towards other dogs.

You wouldn’t know he’d been travelling!
After his long journey, a dose of worm treatment & some flea spray on his arrival, plus another car ride, I expected him to want to curl up for a sleep the moment we got home. Not so! He was keen to get into the garden, do his business, play with some toys, guzzle some rain water from the bench cover and pose for photos.
His right foot has clearly suffered a neglected break which is very obvious when he walks or sits.

We usually only rehome within approx 30miles of the Bournemouth / Poole area
so that we can ensure the continued well-being of the dogs in our care.
We will only re-home further afield if the homes are exceptional.
We are NOT looking for just ANY home that is offered.
All potential homes will be assessed to try and ensure the best possible home
to cater for the differing needs of each individual dog that we rescue.
