Tilly (a.k.a Nala) and Merlin (a.k.a Defa)

progress update: 7/2/12

Hi Helen,

Just wanted to send over an update Nala or Tilly as we have renamed her.

She has settled in so well, she is so smart and learns so very quickly. She really enjoys her walks in the woods each day, especially when she meets other dogs in there.

She loves to play, especially loves balls and she is loving learning tricks. Tilly really wants our cat Oscar to join in and play with her and really can’t quite understand why he won’t run around with her.

We just want to say thank you again as Tilly has brought us a lot of happiness already and know she’ll bring us a lot more.

Regards
Matt & Arlene

Nala and Defa have both now found homes !!

progress update: 10/12/11

Hi Helen,

Its amazing what a couple of days can do!
When they arrived both pups were terrified of people and would run to the opposite end of the room as soon as you entered it.
Today they are chasing the children round, laying on their backs to have their tummies tickled and enjoying all the affection that is being lavished upon them.
They are eating well and their upset tummies are getting much better. They are doing really well with toilet paper training and are (mostly) quiet during the night.

I have enclosed some more pictures for you.
Will keep you informed of their progress,

Tanya

Hi Helen,

Please find attached photo’s of two of the collie pups who arrived this morning.
We have named the little girl Nala and the little boy Defa.

They are very nervous and shy away from contact, so its going to be slowly and softly with these two.
Will send more pictures and a further update when I have won their trust.

Thanks,
Tanya

Sammy

Sammy has now found a home !!

progress update: 31/1/12

Sammy is 16 months, a Beagle/Border Collie cross (probably!), tan and white, slim and fast.
Loves: – Walks, food (eats fast), going to the pub, people, other dogs, Radio 4!
He is house trained and obedient.
Good on the lead after the initial excitement.

progress update: 12/11/11
Hi, I am staying with Jeff and his gang of dogs and a horse.
I am a mixture with a bit of Beagle in me.
I am bigger than I look in my photos more Springer Spaniel size.
As I think I have said before I was thrown out of a car as it was going along the road.
I have had a little trouble with my back legs as a result of this but Tom the vet says I am all okay to go to a new home now.
I like older children best the younger ones don’t always understand how to behave around a dog.
I enjoy racing around the land at the back of Jeff’s house with his dogs.

Sammy is a Beagle cross that was thrown out of a car with his sister.
He gets on very well with other dogs and is popular with Jeff’s friends at the pub who he shares a teatime drink and chat with every night.
All his drinking buddies like to discuss world politics but don’t worry he won’t bore you with lengthy discussions about the state of the world as he is much more interested in walks and laying in front of the wood burner in the evenings.

He is such a beautiful boy with bags of character, mad as a hatter.
He is very easy to train as he cottons on to commands very quickly.
He is almost totally housebroken, I say almost because we still have the occasional excitable accident.
His favourite game is tug of war, but we have to make sure that it is us that wins in the end and not him (important aspect of training).

NOW REHOMED

progress update: 1/2/12

This is Roland who a year ago in Dec went to live with Lorraine and Graham.
At first Roland was NOT good with Tessa their other dog but as you can see from perseverance on Lorraine’s part he now cuddles up with Tessa every night.
Thank you Lorraine for not giving up on Roland!

progress update: 10/9/11

Lorraine sent this photo of Roland with his companion.
It took a long time and a lot of patience for Lorraine to get Roland to this stage where he will share a bed with no growling.
As you can see a little perseverance and two dogs can become the best of friends.

progress update: 17/2/11

Roland who without his muzzle on slept in the bed with Tessa.
Lorraine and Graham deserve ever ending thanks for perserving with him.
He is a lovely dog who had not been treated well and has not been easy for Lorraine, Graham and Tessa to live with at times.
Well done them and thank you.

Hi Helen,
Well we ‘ve had a good day here…took both out for a pavement lead walk this afternoon….all went well!
Had ball in the garden, and then snoozes this evening now!
He ate well, ate all I gave him.
Got crate up now with another big soft comfy cushion in it and water!
He talks alot during awake hours,…..and my goodness me does he snore in sleeping hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He worn himself out now!

This is Roland who arrived yesterday, he was due to be destroyed last Tuesday unless a rescue place could be found for him.

He is now living with Lorraine, Graeme and their dog Tess.
He is one of the dogs that the money from Chris Hall’s flowers saved.
More photos will follow of the other three dogs and three cats that Chris’s money was used to save from deathrow.

NOW REHOMED

Jasmine (a.k.a Kizzie,Angel) and Merlin (a.k.a Defa)

progress update: 28/1/12

Just a note to say thank you so much for all that you did for Defa and Kizzie (now Merlin and Jasmine – named by our children).
They are settling in and we are all getting used to each other.
Merlin is a total softie – he loves nothing more than a cuddle.
Jasmine can be jealous when we try to give Merlin a cuddle, but they are calming down a lot.
Jasmine loves to play football in the garden.
Merlin is getting used to going for walks on the lead – Jasmine has her second injection next Thursday, so we are looking forward to exploring the New Forest together.

progress update: 10/1/12

Kizzie has now found a home with her brother Defa!!

Kizzie has now found a home !!

Lily ( a.k.a Susie )

Susie has now found a home !!

progress update: 23/1/12

Lily has settled into the routine with fellow DAWG veterans, Tara and Fizzy.
She and Fizzy make a huge amount of noise when they run out of the door first thing in the morning. Luckily, the neighbours are tolerant.

She gets very excited when we come home from shopping.
She runs around madly barking as soon as we open the front door and jumps up on our knees for a cuddle as soon as the shopping is put down.
She is ecstatic when we prepare for a walk, running around the whole house barking and bouncing about.

Once we are out on the common, she’s getting very brave and will now investigate things about 100 yards away.
Sometimes, she loves to run as fast as she can, just for the fun of it.
She loves to meet other dogs but keeps her distance from their owners.
We doubt that she will ever be comfortable with people she doesn’t know.
However, that’s not surprising after her four years of suffering abuse.

She is extremely well behaved and runs back instantly when her name is called.
She even comes back when I call Tara.
Of course it’s very costly in biscuits.

Unfortunately, she is still very wary of children.
We’re working on it…

Bob

Hi Helen just a quick update on Susie now shes been here a while, after her arrival yesterday Susie spent most of the day hiding
under the table very fearful of everyone and everything, but today we have come on leaps and bounds, she very much enjoyed her
walk at Queens Park, her tail was up all of the way round, we met several dogs which where greeted very politely, also she travelled
really well in the car, and she is very good on the lead no pulling at all.

Last night was very good, Susie was happy to go in her crate, we had no noise and she was clean and dry, she really is a very
sweet but an extremely shy little girl, she will make a wonderful companion for somebody

regards
Niki

A bitch of approx 4 to 5 years old, friendly but shy.

more details soon

Autumn (a.k.a Holly)

progress update: 10/1/12

Helen,
Just letting you know that Holly is coming along pretty well now.
She is a different dog from when we collected her from you last Monday.
Her season has finished now and her cough has gone as well.

She walks really well on the lead by your side and doesn’t pull, but we let her off the lead in the bridleway near the house and she just ran off and I thought thats it she’s gone but she was waiting by the gate to go in the garden.

Today we saw the vet and she had a injection and will have another one in a couple of weeks time.
We had noticed that her breath smelt a bit and some of her teeth did not look too good and the vet said she would take a good look at them when she comes in to be spayed and if need be may extract them at the same time.

We will try and let you have some photos of her but we need Dean our son to do that for us.

Kind Regards
Brian & Christine Tomlinson

Autumn has now found a home !!

Autumn is a young female small sized spaniel.
She is slightly timid around people but perks up around other dogs even large dogs like Murphy, the English Mastiff!
She is gaining confidence every day and would suit a quieter family home.

She’s a really lovely dog, a real sweetie, if we didn’t have Basil we’d keep her.
She’s a very friendly and happy little dog.
Hasn’t put a foot wrong since she arrived.
Someone will be very lucky to have her.
