Today I took Stanley and Dexter to the Allotment with me and I can’t say that they were as helpful as Buddy,Clive and Charlie !!
They had a great time chasing each other across my vegetable beds and crushing my plants.
Dexter thought he would help me collect the potatoes and sneaked off with a couple to chomp into at his leisure.
Stanley decided to dig into the Bees nest whilst I was weeding right next to it,thankfully they are Mining Bees and very placid.
I am afraid this was the final straw and they were marched back to the car.
Next time I go there they will be staying at home and Tess will be coming with me.

Hello. I am Dexter, a Border terrier cross Shitzu.
I arrived into the rescue two days ago and Dooley has been explaining the rules to me i.e we have to try not to throw our blankets onto the floor and that he is top dog ( after Mutley and Spike).
Helen said that I am a very amiable chap and I certainly am but I am not too keen on the little people called children they run around too much.
I do like dogs though and there is plenty of that here.

Hey Helen, As you can see I have settled in and made myself at home here.
I am getting used to my other playdogs Bailey and Pepper.
Although Pepper can be abit grumpy sometimes.
I love chasing my ball down the park and then going for abit of a dip in the sea.
I also like walking in the woods. I would like to chase the squirrels but i am not allowed. :(
Everyone is looking forward to christmas and have even been told i have some presents.
Hope its a nice chewy toy..
Anyway Helen, I hope you and Jackie and not forgetting my old mate Basil have a truly lovely christmas.
And the New Year brings lots of forever homes for all that needs it..
Lots of Love Buzz xxxx

Hi, Just an update for you. Bailey aka Buzz has settled in so well. He is such a good boy. No trouble at all. He has figured out where the treats are kept and looks at me to the treats and back to me. As if to say come on, dont be tight with the treats. He loves his walks up the woods. Buzz especially likes the park with his ball and he went straight in the sea down at Hamworthy and got me completely soaked when he came out. My daughter found this highly amusing. Will post some pics very soon.
Thank you Helen and Jackie for Buzz.
Hope you all have a great Christmas and Best wishes for the New Year.
Love Michelle..x

This is the lovely Bailey.
He’s about a year old and is full of energy.
He hasn’t had much training in the past but within an hour of being here is is playing fetch with a tennis ball bringing it back and sitting to wait for it to be thrown again.

progress update: 21/12/11

Dear Helen,
We recently adopted Prince and collected him from Nicky and Kevin just over 2 weeks ago.
He is so adorable and we thank you so much for letting us adopt him – even though we live in North Somerset. He has settled in to our home so well with our other two dogs and we love him dearly.
Nicky and her family are so kind and do such a wonderful job with the dogs they foster.
Thank you once again.
Happy Christmas and God Bless in the wonderful work you all do.

progress update: 18/11/11

Prince is 7 months old and is been with us nearly a week now.
Prince is getting used to our busy household and he is gaining in confidence every day.

Hi, I am a Collie and will round up sheep quite nicely unlike Murphy and Mickey who have no idea of the Collie job.
Saying that I am not hectic like some Collies.
I have been a country boy who lived on a farm but they had too many dogs.
I am quite unsure about everything at the moment.
Helen has sent me to stay with Nicky, Kevin and family and their three dogs as she thinks it will do me good to be in a busy household.
It is taking a bit of getting used to so much to take in, the TV for a start I have never seen one of those before.
I am beginning to feel less anxious about it all.
Nicky and Kevin will send in photos of me soon.

progress update: 10/12/11

Hi Helen,

Here’s a quick update on Sabbo.

He’s been with us since Wednesday afternoon and what a lovely little chap he is. He is really good with my two boys (3 & 4 years.) I do have to keep telling my youngest off because he likes to play dinosaurs and thinks Sabbo is playing when he runs away.
We gave him a bath last night and what a good boy he was, he loved the drying best off all, as he was being fussed.
He goes outside to do his toilet, although he had an accident this morning, but think it was excitment to see me.
I’ve taken him for a short walk with our dog Maddie, he is unsure of the collar and lead and got spooked by the cars going by, but walked well. He has a good appetite, you do have to watch your fingers when giving treats but he doesn’t mean to nip them.

He likes being in the same room as me, so you have to watch your step as he will lay right behind you. He was unsure off Brian when he came in from work but soon realized that he will get lots of fussing from him too :)
He hasn’t shown any signs of having a bad bone in him, all he wants is cuddles and to know he’s loved, he will make a good companion.

Will update again soon when he’s settled in a bit more. But for now here are some photo’s off him.

Sabbo is a real cutie and a bit of a poser in front of the camera.
He is approx 7 months old and a mix of something with a long body and short legs.
He is gentle and well behaved and gets on well with children

Update on Lucky:- Hello everyone, do you remember me ?
I was the collie tied in a shed, I just thought you might like to know how I got on, & thank you kind people, especially Helen for offering me a home.
Happy Christmas everyone,
Lucky XXXXX

progress update: 9/10/11

Hello everyone, Lucky here,to say I think I’m staying here in Ireland after all.
I’m quite an old lady,& my back legs still aren’t great, & I’ve settled in so well here, that Helen & my foster mum think it would be best if I stayed over here.
Thank you ever so much everyone for offering me a home, you are all soooo lovely, but I’m really not up to moving on again, she has bought me a memory foam bed, & I sleep by the fire at night now.
Lucky XXX

This is Lucky, she is like a dwarf collie, about the size of a corgi, with little dumpy legs, she looks a bit of a mess at the moment, but she’s having a major make over, & a bath, next week, & the bare patch on her back is growing hair again,

Poor dog has had nine years solitary confinement tied in a dark shed, & still has a scar round her neck from the rope as a momento., she’s extremely quiet, & just wants to be near you for reassurance & a rub, bless her my heart went out to her to think she woke every morning knowing she was just going to have to stand all day in that shed.

Pepi

Pepi has now found a home !!

Pepi is a 3 year old neutered male Toy Poodle.
He really is a male despite the pretty pink dress!!
He is pictured at a fashion show in Petstop where he was the only dog slim enough to model the dress – poor fella although he just loved all the attention he was getting.
He’s a good natured, friendly, loveable little dog who likes nothing more than to curl up on someone’s lap.
He is a super pet and is non-shedding.
This does mean that he has to be clipped every 6-8 weeks

Murphy

Murphy has now found a home !!

progress update: 26/11/11

Murphy has grown up so much since coming here to foster, he is now clean in the house, he is confident and happy
when out, happy to meet and greet most dogs, he can still be a little unsure if a bigger dog comes along, but mostly
hes just gets on with his walk and plays with the girls or chases the ball.

In the house hes happy to be crated at night or when i go out, he does not chew, but he may pinch things when your
not looking, saying that hes always happy to give it up after a short chase, hes is very good with toys, food no possessive
behaviour at all, and most importantly he is fantastic with the kids, he absolutley worships my daughter who is 9 and will
do anything for a cuddle with her, he really is adorable we all love him and feel he would make a lovely addition to any family.

regards
Niki

Hi Helen here are a few pics from out trip to Ferndown this morning, he travelled well in the car he was off lead and as
good as gold, he was also quiet and clean throughout the night, a real sweetheart.

Niki

Hi, I am Murphy and I arrived with my brother Mickey.
We have lived on a farm where we pretty much pleased ourselves as to how we spent our days.
We are 7 months old, get on very well with other dogs and love all humans.
I am bunking in at the rescue with Seamus a Terrible Terrier as Mark calls them.
I haven’t yet learnt the rules of the dog room which state that blankets must not be thrown on the floor and chewed but I am learning that this extracts a “No ” from Helen.
Today I buried myself under one and was chewing it from behind I didn’t think she could see what I was doing.

Asha

Asha has now found a home !!

progress update: 4/12/11

Hi Helen,

We have had Asha for over two weeks now, but it feels like we have had her for ages.
Asha really has settled in very well with us, she is so gentle with our little girl, Naomi, who is nearly 2 years old.
She is such a well behaved girly and travels very well in my car; which has meant we go on a lot of adventures to lots of different places.
She is a great running companion for my husband and I which means she is keeping us all fit.
We spend hours kicking a football for her as that is her absolute favorite thing to do, she also loves squeaky soft toys for indoors.
We are pleased to say that Asha isn’t the only DAWG dog in our family now.
On Friday we all welcomed Ollie into my sister-in-law’s home, Asha and Ollie both liked running round the garden after balls together.
I am looking forward to years of love and fun with this lovely doggie of ours!!
Thank you so much to everyone at DAWG dogs for all you do.
You are all so wonderful.

Thanks again for everything,
From Tanya, Dave, Naomi, Asha the Doggie and Cassie the cat

Winston the Westie (a.k.a Scotty)

Winston has now found a home !!

Just some pictures to show you how the lovely Winstons coat is starting to regrow on his face,
he had a lovely time today in the sun out at Matchams forest so a few pictures of him enjoying himself.

progress update: 12/11/11

Hi, I am still here at the Rescue.
I was in a terrible state when I arrived my coat was so badly matted that I didn’t look like a West Highland Terrier and my skin was sore.
I have had a hair cut and treatment from my Doctor and now I look like a different dog.
My hair is growing back and my skin is loads better.
I don’t mind children but like them better when they are above 9 years old.
I love small furry creatures but only to chase them so I guess I had better limit myself to a home without a cat or small furries.

progress update: 11/11/11

Winston is a lovely fella , but all terrier , such a cheecky fella.
He travels well in the car, is clean indoors, sleeps either in his crate or in the kitchen. He is not good with small furries.
But meets and greats the dogs we meet each on our walks.
His undercoat is begining to grow back.
He is a good watch dog often hearing people at the door before my girls do.

progress update: 5/11/11

It is recommended that Winston does not go with small furries or children under 7,
he has improved with the cats that he is being fostered with but its still work in progress

progress update: 1/11/11

Hi
Just an update on the lovely Winston, he has settled in very well, learning to sit and wait for his food, eating alongside my girls too without panicking that they will eat his.
His skin looks better every day and I am sure his undercoat is starting to come through.
He is a lovely fella who loves his walks, travels well in the car.
Is a fantastic little watch dog, not barking all the time only when needed.
Sleeps all night either in his crate or in the kitchen without a peep.

Hi
As promised the photos of this lovely fella after he had been to see Sarah for a make over, boy did he need it.
Despite this he was a sweetie standing while he was brushed and trimmed so he can look his best for a new forever home.
He is a real terrier ,despite the fact he is only little he has a big attitude loves his food and enjoying investigating all the new sights and smells.
He is clean at home, sleeps in his crate, good in the car and walks well on a lead.

Hi
Just an update on the little Westie, he is a sweet little man in need of a lot of tlc.
He has no undercoat on his body or on a lot of his face.
The matts on his body , tail and head I have cut off.
He has had a bath so he is a lot less fragrant, this was not something he enjoyed but was good anyway.
He walks well on the lead and has met quite a few dogs without a problem.
He travels well in the car. But is not good at all with the cats , chickens , rabbits and guinea pigs .
He is going to cute paws to have a hair cut so will send you some photos after.
