Hello Foster Mummy Pat

I hope you like my photo of me with my special friend Minnie Mouse – she’s much bigger than me but I like sleeping under her particulary when I can arrange myself on my back with all legs in the air.

I have just had my second check-up with the vet man who is very kind to me. He says I still have an ear infection and so must now have another course of anti-biotics – different to last time. He also cleaned out my anal glands – thank goodness! They were really giving me gip.

I have got used to my routines now and enjoy myself – or sleep. Sleeping is something I do quite a lot of because I am an elderly lady but I do have two walks every day, mostly with my dad. On Thursdays I do the the paper delivery round with mum and dad and two/three times a week I go on the Age Concern bus which dad drives. It’s fun meeting all these new people on the bus who all make a fuss of me. I also visit and ‘aunt and uncle’ who are in their 90’s so are elderly like me.

I have got used to going down the garden on my own although I like to see that mum or dad are waiting at the door for me and I have found a way of letting them know when I need to go out so that the house is clean and dry. Bit of a nuisance that I don’t bark and I have no way of letting anyone know why.

If you would like to come and see me you will be very welcome.

Love Missy.

Dear Helen

She has settled in exceedingly well enjoying physical contact with whoever is ready to rub her tummy or tickle her ears.
She has been on the AgeUK bus and loves the elderly passengers who are only too ready to make a fuss of her;
many of them have had dogs before and miss owning one now.
She takes a leisurely walk each morning (helping with the once a week paper round) to get the joints moving and has a more energetic one in the afternoon.
Evenings are for eating and napping and bedtime means a lovely snuggle up to ‘dad’ on his bed.
She enjoys being brushed and groomed – just another excuse for lots of fuss!!
Hope the attachment is sufficient for your needs but let me know if I need post the original.
Kind regards
Linda Hollows and Tony Miles

DEAR FOSTER MUMMY PAT

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I AM WELL SETTLED IN AND HAVE BEEN LOTS OF
PLACES. I VISITED THE STROKE CLUB AND MET LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO SEEMED
TO LIKE ME AND STROKED ME AND I LOVED THIS. I THEN WENT DOWN TO THE
BEACH FOR A WALK WITH MY DAD – NOT TOO KEEN ON THE WIND IN MY FACE BUT
WAS OK GOING IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. I MANAGED THE STEPS UP AND DOWN
TO THE BEACH WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE BUT I DON’T SEEM TOO KEEN ON THE
STAIRS IN THE HOUSE.

I ALSO DID THE ONCE-A-WEEK PAPER ROUND WITH MUM & DAD – QUITE GOOD FUN
WALKING UP AND DOWN PEOPLE’S GARDEN PATHS. HAVE ALSO VISITED A COUPLE
OF OTHER HOMES WITH DAD WHERE EVERYBODY SEEMED TO LIKE ME.

I LIKE THE CONSERVATORY IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN THE SUN COMES IN AND I
STRETCH OUT ON MY BACK AND LET THE SUN WARM ME UP. I HAVE DECIDED
THAT I LIKE AN EVENING MEAL BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A FEW DRY BITS LEFT
OUT SHOULD I NEED A QUICK SOMETHING DURING THE DAY. THERE’S A SOFT
BALL AND A SMALL TEDDY FOR ME BUT I HAVEN’T GOT INTO PLAY MODE YET.

THOUGHT I MIGHT GET AWAY WITH DOING QUICK PEE OUTSIDE DOOR BUT DAD
SOON CAUGHT ON AND NOW I AM TAKEN TO THE END OF THE GARDEN. HOWEVER,
HAVE DECIDED THERE ARE LOTS OF LOVELY SMELLS HERE SO DON’T MIND THAT I
HAVE TO WALK BACK TO GET TO MY BED.

I HAVE A MORNING AND AN AFTERNOON WALK – BIT STIFF GETTING STARTED BUT
OK AFTER A WHILE. OFF ON THIS THING CALLED A ‘MINI BUS’ THIS
AFTERNOON – HOPE I LIKE IT. WILL LET YOU KNOW. MY DAD HAS YOUR EMAIL
AS WELL AND HE MAY WRITE TO YOU AS WELL. NEED TO HAVE A NAP NOW. LOVE
MISSY

Missy has now found a home !!

Missy went to her new home today and wasted no time at all in getting
comfy on the sofa and having a little nap x sweet dreams missy x

Missy,Zander and Lucky hogging the sofa – older dogs make great pets!

The beautiful Missy is a little gem to have around and great with other dogs but as yet not to be trusted of the lead as she has no recall but is learning her name,
she is developing a personality more every day and is to be found in her basket paws in the air asleep on her back.
Missy is around eight years old.

Hi Helen,
Congratulations on your award – it’s so well deserved.
Have enclosed picture of our lovely boy.
He has been back to Wales this year on holiday and walked up Snowdon.
He’s also been to the Peak District and the Forest of Dean and many other places too.
He has fitted in so well with us.
Yours,
Sue and Jeff Light

Hi Helen and Heleanor,

Thought I’d give you a belated update on Cwmbran.

He’s settled in really well with us and especially loves our grandchildren.
His coat is now really soft and shiny – have never known a dog moult as much as he did when he first arrived. He really enjoys his walks – 6 miles in the morning and 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and he’s great with other dogs. Our 10 year old collie adores him although he is so laid back – our daughter says he’s on prozac! – that we’re not sure he feels the same about her.
They do sleep together though.

As you told me Heleanor he’s car mad but we have to travel with him on the floor as he gets very anxious about traffic and pants excessively – we’re considering getting a soft travel crate.
Despite being so laid-back at home when we’re out he charges about like a whirling dervish.

We hope he’s as happy with us as we are with him.
Wishing you both a Merry Christmas,

Sue and Jeff Light

progress update: 28/10/12

Hi Helen,
Just to let you know Lily is doing very well.
She is already 95% potty trained and understands the ‘ask to go out’ quite well now.
We have just had an amazing session with our grandaughter Chloe.
Lily bonded with her immediately and absolutely loved her chasing with the ball.
Even better Lily allowed her to take the ball from her mouth!
She has been introduced to the fields and woods and the local fallow deer who are very curious of the new arrival.

Lassie ( a.k.a 10 ton Lassie )

progress update: 17/10/12

Lassie has now found a home !!

progress update: 21/7/12
Lassie is still looking for a home.
Lassie is a lovely character excellent with small children, about the size of a larger Sheltie of which she is a mixture of.
Lassie was homed by us seven years ago when she was just one years old and for those of you not good at maths that makes her eight years old. She has come back into the rescue because her owner has become ill. Unfortunately, she was never trained out of her Collie instincts of liking to chase and round up cars and still likes to round them up. With patience and time or someone who walks where no cars are driving around in an untidy manner she will be a perfect companion.
Lassie has been in kennels for the last few weeks as we had no space in any of our foster homes.
This week the kennels where we have been boarding her are full up and we need to find her a space for her sleeping bag, alarm clock etc by Tuesday.

Lassie is 8 years old and a Sheltie type cross, she is excellent with young children.
Unfortunately due to illness in her previous home she has been returned to us.
Lassie walks well on the lead but is strong and she is very good off the lead.
She has eaten a few too many pies and needs to lose some weight.

If you may be able to offer a home
or would like more details

Hi Helen, just a quickie to let you see how Lil is doing (of Jack & Lil).
I’ve had her 2 years now and can’t imagine life before Lil.
Always keep an eye on your website – you and your team do amazing work – wish I could adopt another but would have to meet with Lil’s approval!

Jack has now found a home,

Lil still wants a home !!

progress update 15/8/10

Our names are Jack and Lil and we are two Jack Russell puppies looking for permanent loving homes.
At the moment we are fostering with Ozzie and his humans.
We are 9 months old, fully vaccinated and will be neutered.
Jane thinks we are really lovely and even Jonathan (who pretends he doesn’t like little dogs) says he has to admit we are very sweet!
It would be nice to go to a home together but we realise this may not be possible.
We have been at Ozzies house just over a week now and Jane has let us off our leads on a walk for a good run round.
We love this and do come back when she calls us.
If we don’t, Ozzie rounds us up like a sheep dog!!
We are not sheep and can’t understand why he thinks we are!
We are clean in the house and friendly with other dogs.
Please consider giving us a home and if you think you can, ring Helen at the rescue 01202 380467
