Marley (a.k.a Sam) and Hendrix ( a.k.a Sergei )

REHOMED

progress update: 13/9/13

I thought I’d provide an update on Marley (previously Sam) who has been with me for 5 wonderful years now.
He really is the best decision I have ever made.
From the timid, skinny dog he once was to the bouncy confident fluffball he is now –
It’s been a real joy to be part of this journey and watch him grow.
In anticipation of welcoming Marley into my home, I bought toys a plenty, on the assumption that he would be playful,
needing that mental stimulation as previous Collie’s in the family did.
I threw the ball and he didn’t even follow it with his eyes let alone his feet!
For the first year or so I was playing fetch with myself!
Now, as the photos show he has reverted back to a puppy!
He not only chases the ball when I throw it, he also entertains himself, launching it up in the air if I’m distracted having a chat -he’s brilliant entertainment! He is also the best sidekick I could ask for, still coming to work with me every day, keeping me company.
He gives the best cuddles.. apart from when he thinks he is a lapdog which proves a little awkward considering his size!
Everyone loves this big softy, as do I with every fibre of my being.
Thank you for introducing him to my life, and for all the brilliant work you do.
Here’s to the next 5 years with this wonderful weirdo.
All the best, Jess

Marley was Sam

Marley

Hi Helen,
Just thought I’d send you a little update on our two lovely dogs.
We’ve had Marley (previously Sam) for a year now and I really could not imagine life without him.
He is such a faithful companion and a really calming presence.
We’ve not had any problems with him and he has fitted in so well with us, he’s an absolute gem.
When we first got him we attempted playing fetch and he just looked at us as if we were mad,
me and my partner Chris ended up playing our own game as Marley had no idea what to do..
Now he absolutely loves chasing sticks and tennis balls and can run for hours.
Although he’s only 4(ish) years old we do think he’s old before his time so we chatted about maybe introducing a younger dog into the family..
Then I attended your fantastic dog show a couple of weekends ago and fell in love with Sergei (who we’ve named Hendrix.)
After a quick call and a few pictures sent through to Chris, we decided he was the pup for us.
And I’m SO pleased we did. He’s divine, a real character!
We are coming along with his house training with only the very rare accident now, he sleeps through the night and lets us know when he needs the toilet.
He’s fitted in great with my daily work routine and loves being outdoors all day everyday helping me do scrub clearance by pulling up sticks!
He adores Marley and wants to be best friends and constantly close to him…
Marley is slowly coming round to the idea.. it’s early days!
I’ll provide another update/essay in a few months, but for now, thank you so much for all the work you do and for enabling us to have two beautiful dogs.

Hiya Helen,

Hope you are well.

Thought I’d update you on Marley (aka Sam.) He’s been with us just over a month now and has settled in beautifully. He is the biggest softy I have ever known and just loves attention.. which is lucky as everybody LOVES him and gives him tons of it.

He loves being outdoors with me everyday, watching me work! He will wander off and I can always trust him to come back when he’s finished exploring! Strangely he seems to adore being in the car and will try and get into any car if there is a door open which has proved interesting on occasion!

I took him to the vets a couple of weeks ago, just for a check up and to register and the vet aged him at 3 (ish) years old. He was very well behaved and is a lovely healthy dog.

We go down to the beach a lot and he just loves playing in the sea. He does have a tendency to stay very close by to me and sometimes requires a little encouragement to play – ie me getting in the sea too!

He has no interest in playing with/chasing sticks or balls so I have started cycling with him to give him that level of exercise that collies require. I do most of the pedalling though! He absolutely loves to run alongside me and sometimes even gets a bit competitive and speeds ahead! We then have lots of cuddles and a big rest on the beach afterwards.

Finally, me and my partner Chris have found a new home for us all, which has our own private garden especially for Marley (as opposed to the communal garden we currently share.) We are moving in at the beginning of November and can’t wait to settle in with Marley.

Will keep you updated in future and pop along with Marley to any events you hold.

Take care

Jess

A little update on Sam – who is now known as Marley.
He responds to his new name and is beautifully behaved!
He comes to work outdoors with me everyday, wanders high and low and always comes back to my
whistle.
A massive softy, always wanting cuddles we love him completely.
Thank you!

Sam has now found a home !!

Sam behaved beautifully on his walk yesterday.
I let him off the lead, he stayed close by and his recall is fantastic!
He shows no interest in the cats or numerous small furries that we have and loves other dogs.
His is a big Collie X but likes to think that he is small enough to
curl up on your lap – he is not! But I give him 10/10 for persistence!

He has a wonderful gentle nature and really is a super boy.
My children love him and have been teaching him to sit and give his paw.
He’ll do anything for them if they have a treat in their hands!

This is Sam, he is a 4yr old male Collie.
I only picked him up a few hours ago but so far he has behaved beautifully.
He is good with other dogs and, on first introduction, seems ok with the cats.
He hasn’t met the children yet (they stayed at Nana and Grandads last night!) so I will update again later!
