Tom has now found a home !!

progress update: 31/7/12

Hi Helen just a quick update on the wonderful Tom that we have fostering with us,
Tom has settled really well since his arrival last week and he has shown nothing but the most kind and gentle nature, he totally loves life and his tail never stops wagging.

Tom is overweight but he is not lazy and loves to be out with the rest of the gang tearing around the fields, he has wonderful recall and is a real social butterfly saying hello to all the dogs
and people, he travels well in the car and is very good on the lead.

I really do think Tom will be a wonderful addition to any household,
he is extremely loving and will do anything he can to please
he really is looking for a nice place by the fire and someone to love,
we all adore him and so do my other dogs hes such a sweetheart.

Tom came into the Rescue yesterday because his owner has died.
Tom is like a comfortable armchair after too many treats for way too
long.
He is loving getting out on walks to run off all the extra fat
and great with other dogs.
Because he is a dog with an I am so pleased to meet you and can I jump up to say hello personality we think he will be best with older children he cannot knock down in his excitement.
He has been down to the pub with Jeff tonight for a swifty beer and loved all and sundry.
Photos to follow later in the week but in the meanwhile he is a black and white, five to six year old Spaniel.

 

Zowie has now found a home !!

Zowie arrived late Thursday night one of the pound dogs that Homeless7Hounds asked us to help with.
She was on death row and would of been put to sleep that day which when you look at her photos you will
realise what a crime that is.
Thank you to Jeff who spent all day and night driving these pound dogs up and down the country dropping them off to safe houses and I mean all day and night.

Zowie is much smaller than she looks in her photos not much bigger than Tommy and Timmy the Beagles we have in.
She is about three years old and gets on very well with other dogs.
She has clearly been kicked and dropped down to the ground and cringed when I lifted my leg up to
hold Mutley back while one of the other dogs went through the baby gate.
She is scared of younger children and at unease around them , I think younger children have been unkind to her.
I am sure when she meets the Woof Parade children next Sat she will start to realise that all children are not cruel but I think she will be better in a home with older children.
I had to leave her for a couple of hours after she arrived to my house and put her bed in the kitchen, cleared the counters of everything that I didn’t want chewed or eaten and when I came back she had been the model of good behaviour.
After nearly thirty years of rescuing dogs I know that she will be good off the lead ( you get a feel for a dogs personality after this amount of time ) and plan to let her off on her walk tomorrow.
Will update as to whether I regret this decision tomorrow.

 

Naja has now found a home !!

This is Naja she came into the rescue yesterday and is 2 years old.
I have known Naja since she was a puppy she is a placid girl and will need lots of excercise.
Naja is good with children and other dogs.

Suzie has now found a home !!

progress update: 21/7/12

Hi Helen just a quick update on Suzie,
she has settled very well indeed and is very sweet natured and affectionate,
loves her cuddles, she is clean and quiet in the house, fantastic in
the car and loves her walks, she is quite strong on the lead but this can be worked on as she is willing to listen and has already improved a great deal.

Suzie loves to be in the garden pottering about she is also likes to
play ball, she will bring it back every time and put it on your feet,
she also can’t get enough of the water and will swim as much as she can,
she is quite energetic considering her age, she is good with my children aged 10 and above and is always pleased to see them

progress update on Sparky: 20/7/12

Hi Helen,

Just a quick email to say thanks very much for all your help today and
to let you know that Sparky has settled in at his new home ok so far –
he’s had a nice few runs around the garden this afternoon with his
rabbit – he wasn’t keen on watching the golf on tv but prefers the
wool carpet!!! :-)

progress update on Sparky: 12/7/12

Hi Helen, thought I would update you some more on Sparky.

Sparky is such a lovely boy, he has settled into family life really
quickly. He has learnt to sit and wait for his meals and will go in
his crate when told. We have no problems with him at night, as he
sleeps in the hallway with our dog Maddie. He loves being with Zak 5
and Aden 3 years, Zak has been training Sparky to sit and go down.
Once he has someone to spend the time training him, he can most
probably go onto do agility.

Sparky loves going on walks over the playing fields where he can run
and play with other dogs. I have taken him by the roads which he isn’t
too keen on but he is getting there.
All he wants is a home where he can get lots off fussing, cuddles and
love, Oh and not forgetting food, food, more food, chews and treats.

progress update on Spot: 7/7/12

Ollie (aka Spot) Has settled very well over the last 24 hours.
Almost like he’s been here a while!
He has been clean and dry and was perfect last night.
Took to his bed at 11:30 and we didn’t really hear from him again (apart from a growl at the cat!) until we went to him this morning.
He was very pleased to see us and his whole back end wags (not just his tail!)
He was not as pleased to see the rain though as it appears he dislikes that as much as we do.
He’s already enjoying fetch with the ball and will patiently sit before each throw.
He is an absolute delight and I’m sure we’re all going to be really happy together :o)

progress update on Sparky: 29/6/12

This is Sparky, he is looking for his forever home.
Sparky is very good with my two boys 5 & 3yrs.
He is picking up commands really
quickly, sleeps all night and is clean.
He is such a lovely boy who wants cuddles and lots of love.

progress update on Sparky: 23/6/12

Hi Helen, here’s a quick update on Sparky.

Sparky has settled in really well, he is great with children and does get very excited in the mornings when the boys come down the stairs, so does need reminding that paws stay on the floor.
He gets on well with Maddie and wants to play most of the time with her, so I do have to put him in his crate at times just to calm him down.
We have no problems at night, he has learnt that even though Brian gets up to go to work at 5.40am, he just goes out for a wee then straight back to sleep till I get up at 6.45am.

He is picking up commands quickly, he now sits and waits for his meal to be put down and told he can have it, also to leave Maddie alone while she finishes hers (as she’s a little bit more slower and doesn’t inhale hers.)
He likes to follow me around and will lay behind you if stood still for too long!

Whoever takes Sparky home will have a never ending supply off Love and Cuddles.

progress update: 16/6/12

Hi Helen,

I have attached some photo’s of Spot and Sparky, which is very hard when they wont sit still.

Spot is the bigger off the two, he has a small white mark on the back off his neck and a white tipped tail and right front paw is mainly white. He is the more confident one, and will try and take toys or food away from Maddie.
Sparky is more timid and slightly smaller then his brother, he has a front left right paw with black spots. He’s not too sure about taking food from us, so we have to put it on the floor for him.

They love attention, like all puppies do. They especially like my youngest as he’s the right height for them to jump up and lick his face. There first night here, they slept from 10pm to about 5.45am when Brian got up to go to work, so naturally I had to get up too. They slept in the hallway with Maddie, but I have put the cage up to shut them away as all they and Maddie want to do is play, also they can put their paws on the table and try to eat with us.

Spot I think will train up really quickly, but Sparky will need to be coaxed out off his shell, as he’s more a bit more nervous.

Just a quick update for you regarding Skinny Sam!
We have just celebrated his 4th year with us and we all couldn’t be happier!
He has a wonderful social life, more comfort than he could need, cordon bleu meals and is more loved as each week goes by . .

Today we celebrated his ‘birthday’; a year to the day we adopted him
from DAWG Dogs…
He has blossomed into a wonderful chap, his recent achievements being
a swimming fanatic and has actually let the lady at the beauty parlour
brush and trim him!

How can I thank you enough for bringing Sam into our lives?!

He has settled SO amazingly well:  loves all his new friends, family
and neighbours.  He is clean, loving and I think very happy too! He
thoroughly enjoys morning walks, though still on lead, he behaves very
well.  His confidence grows daily: now dipping toes in the sea and
river and getting in and out of any car or boat andactually starting
to pick up and play a little with toys! Hopefully training starts next
week, from what he has picked up already, sure this wont take long at
all.

Thank you again for all the hard work you and your team puts into
these animal’s welfare.

Honey continues to be a honey, although we may have to rename her Miss Chief!!!
She seems to be enjoying her new home, her walks (runs!!) and her new friend, Sonnie.
Sonnie has been really very good with her and I continue to hope that they will have a positive effect on each other.

Hi Helen,
Just a selection of pics of Honey with one of Sonnie keeping an eye out at the window!
Apart from being a real honey, and wanting to help me type this to you,
we have noticed that Honey, like her female human counterparts has a fascination with shoes!!!
She has ‘helped’ Sheila with her sandals!! I cant believe how well everything appears
to be going at the moment – I am even encouraged to think that she may
help me convince Sonnie to have a bit more trust in people.

Dear Aunty Helen, we arrived safely this morning and didn’t seem to fazed by our journey,
we have been for a short walk and walked well on our leads.
Had breakfast and Lucky is having cuddles and a little nap whilst Honey is up for a game and is playing with toys and her new BFF Diggery who loves having young fosters in to play with x
All in all these are two delightful dogs x

Emma has now found a home !!

progress update: 15/7/12

Just to update you on the lovely Emma.
She is a fabulous girl, clean and quiet.
Happy to sleep in her basket without a peep.
Even though she is 7 years old she enjoys loves a walk, greeting everyone we meet
with a lovely waggy tail.
She is a happy social girl. Takes no notice of our cats, rabbits , guinea pigs or chickens.
Is happy sharing with my girls , Ziggi, Ruby and Kayder.
Emma travels well too, walks nicely on a lead.

Once she has had a walk she loves nothing more than a good snooze.
Beagles have never been a breed I have fancied but this girl has
changed my mind on the breed.
She is great company.
Spayed , microchipped and vaccinated including kennel cough.
