We will be looking for homes for these where they will be allowed to live out a full life in the open air.

These chickens have previously been kept 5 to a foot-long cage in the dark

Please consider when buying eggs that you buy free-range.

If you can offer a good home to any of these chickens please phone the Rescue.

Jodie

Jodie has now been rehomed !!

progress update from Daryl: 19th Oct 09
Jodie is a bouncy lively girl.
She has settled down really well at Jane’s.
She has obviously had some basic training and does respond well to commands.
She seems to like other dogs but needs to learn to control her enthusiasm!
She is a very lovely affectionate girl, another one I would take home with me if I could.
Whoever rehomes Jodie will get a very nice natured loyal dog.

progress update from Jane: 5th Oct 09
jodie settling well. very affectionate, has calmed down.

learning to retrieve but short concentration span.
good on lead, seems to like other dogs.

My name is Jodie and I am a mix up of all sorts of dogs.
I was in a pound and my time was up on the Monday when luckily for me the Rescue arranged with Caroline who helps us pound dogs to transport me to DAWGdogs.
A few days before I was due to go I had puppies which was a shock to me too,
I was very stressed with all the noise in the pound and didn’t know what to do with the pups and they died.
Ann who looked after me on my arrival into the Rescue tried her best to save them but couldn’t and gave me a toy rabbit to love instead.
I carry this rabbit around with me.
Daryl who picked me up from Ann’s and took me to Jane my new foster mum said I am a lively girl.
I like other dogs and would love a home where I can settle down as my life before has been a hard one.

Marley

Marley has now found a home !!

progress update: 20th Oct 09

Marley will be going to his new home on Thursday !!

progress update: 8th Oct 09

Marley is such a lovely happy little boy. I can’t comprehend the decision to put him to sleep.
Thank goodness the team at Ark Aid intervened & got in contact with Helen!
He has shown no bad behaviour or aggression what so ever. He doesn’t even bark at our neighbour’s cat.
The cat now thinks he’s a mouse and has tried approaching him as if he was prey!
He is clean in the house, he eats well and loves lots of fuss and cuddles.
He spends most of his day snoozing on his back, on the sofa, as close as he can get to me.
He lets me know when the laptop has had too much of my attention and forcefully shoves his little head under my arm.
He sleeps in the crate at night although I think he would prefer to be on the bed.
He squeaks for a bit but then settles and is quiet for the night. He is very excited to be let out in the morning.
I believe his previous home may have been a bit chaotic and confusing for him.
He is now thriving in a quiet home, with no young children or pets, where he gets lots of positive attention.
On walks he is friendly and playful towards other dogs.
Passers by comment on how sweet he is and what a beautiful coat and markings he has.
He is a bit clingy, he squeaks when I go to have a shower.
I am going to have to start leaving him for short periods (in the crate for security & with the radio on) and gradually increase the time I’m away.
He has some good manners suggesting someone has taken time to train him.
He knows not to charge out of the door before me at the beginning of a walk.
He sits nicely for his dinner and waits for instruction to eat.
I can put my hand in the bowl of food and he doesn’t get funny. He hasn’t been fussed about toys either.
We thought about keeping him ourselves but I will have to return to work and he would, on occasions, be left on his own for a 3-4 hours.
I think he’d prefer to be a very loving companion to someone who doesn’t have to leave him on a regular basis.

Claire

Marley was going to be put to sleep but the staff at Ark Aid Vets in Southbourne stepped in and phoned us to see if we could take him, they said he was too nice a dog to be put to sleep.

We usually only rehome within approx 30miles of the Bournemouth / Poole area
so that we can ensure the continued well-being of the dogs in our care.
We will only re-home further afield if the homes are exceptional.
We are NOT looking for just ANY home that is offered.
All potential homes will be assessed to try and ensure the best possible home
to cater for the differing needs of each individual dog that we rescue.

URGENTLY NEEDING A HOME !!

Lady

4/5 yrs old, this girl is so lovely, bless her, she was homed by the pound 2 1/2 years ago after being collected as a stray, and she is back, her owners this time dont want her back poor love, so she is now unloved and in the pound again !!
She seems fine with other dogs and walks nicely on the lead… Not sure if she has been spayed or not.
This girl has a hair lip.

Fizz

She is around 2 yrs old , and a very friendly girl, she is fine with other dogs out and bout, but can be a little grumpy when other dogs are around her when she is alone with you.. So I think best homed as the only dog.

Jack

progress update: 21st Sep 09

progress update: 8th June 09

Jack has settled into his new home with the Tapner family who love him very much.
The cats are getting used to him but don’t love him yet!

This is a photo sent to us just after he had been clipped:

Jack has now been re-homed !!

progress update from Jane: 13th May 09

My name is Jack and I’m a Westie Cross looking for a loving home.
I came to Helen’s from Ireland because my owner died.
At the moment I’m being fostered by Jane and Ozzie but I know I cannot stay here forever.
Ozzie tells me that there are lots of kind people who will love me.
I think I am about 6 years so I know how to behave.
Occasionally I do bark when I am excited about going on a walk but
apart from that I am quiet about the house.
I never make a sound at night and only wake when Jane does. Ozzie says that’s a good thing!!
Jane and Ozzie meet lots of different people with their dogs for walks
and I am very sociable. I like to say hello to other dogs and have a
sniff but I go back to Jane when she calls me.
Today we went to the New Forest where there were lots of ponies and their babies but even
the babies were bigger than me so I just ignored them.
Everybody says I’m very pretty although I would prefer it if they said handsome!
Cute is acceptable!!

progress update from Jane: 20th Apr 09

Hi Helen

A few pictures for the website – Jack has just had a bath and looks gorgeous!
He’s a sweet natured little lad, very well behaved and just gets on with it all!
He discovered Harry Potter, the rabbit,
yesterday and had a good chase around the garden but nothing more!
Harry has a very good hiding place where no dog can get, no matter how
small they think they are!!
He’s very friendly with other dogs and gets on well with Ozzie.
Jack is good on the lead (a dog that doesn’t pull, not had one of those before!!).
We have let him off the lead and he comes to call.
All in all, a smashing little fella.
