Lady

Lady has now found a home !!

progress update: 10/9/11

Lady has settled in well at Geoff’s and is coming on in leaps and bounds.
Much more confident around men than when she first came into the rescue.
Lady has had a terrible time, she was skin and bone when first found and terrified of men.
Her two companions were so emaciated they couldn’t be saved and died.
Thanks to Geoff and visits to the pub she is less scared and easier in the company of men.
Lady is gentle, good with children, dogs, cats and chickens what more could anyone ask for in a dog.

Lady is a mixture possibly with some Pointer in her.
Lady is young and arrived today from Ireland where she had been fostering with Catherine who has transformed her from a skinny, starved and frightened girl to a healthy and more confident dog.
Thank you Catherine you have done a marvellous job with her.
At Catherine’s Lady got on well with the cats and the chickens.
She is a little fearful of men but is now fostering with Jeff who took her off to the pub with him for a teatime drink today.
She met the cronies from the pub and even though a little shy at first soon got into the swing of putting the world to rights and discussing present day politics.
She also met Rudy ( a Dawgdog ) and his companion an English Bull Terrier and happily played with them when bored off the pub talk.
She is fantastic with other dogs.

Sam

Sam has now found a home !!

progress update: 20/9/11

Sam went to his new home on Sunday.
He has waited very patiently for his forever home to come along and we have heard that he has settled in really well.

progress update from Sam’s fosterers Jane and Ozzie: 6/9/11

/

Thought it was time for an update on Sam who is desperately looking for his forever home.
Sam has been fostering with us now for two weeks.
Prior to that he was fostering with Tracy who had Sam when he first arrived from Ireland.
Tracy did a fantastic job with him whilst he found his feet and by the time he came to us, he really settled down to family life very quickly.
All Sam wants is a comfy bed and lots and lots of cuddles! He will curl up on anything!
The photo is of Sam lying on the dust sheets whilst we were decorating!
We have even found him curled up on top of the laundry basket!
The other photo is of Sam at the Dawgdog Show.
He loves his crate and will happily lie in there with the door open.

Sam is being neutered next week. He needs a little work on his lead as he does tend to pull but this can be sorted.
Sam absolutely loves children, his tail goes into overdrive when he sees or hears youngsters.
He is clean and settles after his walk. This handsome boy will be a fantastic addition to any household.
Please consider giving Sam a home. Jane and Ozzie x

This is Sam who is looking for a home.
He has been at the rescue for quite a while now and we cannot understand why.
As you can see from the photos, he loved Anna, my friends 10 year old daughter who popped round this morning.
Anna wanted to keep him but his Mum said no as they already have Jack and Bailey who is a Dawgdog.
He loves a cuddle, is clean in the house, friendly with people and other dogs.
This boy will make a lovely family dog

progress update: 29/7/11
Sam has been with us for a few weeks now.
He is a challenge being an intelligent dog and has a zest for life.
He will need some training as he is always on the go so no couch potato home for him !!
He is Collie size and I thought that I should mention this as some people that phoned in have said that from the photo he looks larger.

progress update from his foster home with Tracy:
Hi Helen,
Sam is settling in well. He has become best mates with my 7yr old grandson.
He is nervous but nothing that won’t go away with trust.
Pulls on the lead, again nothing that can’t be sorted.
He can run like the wind this boy, so no letting off the lead yet until he has learned better recall.
Sam doesn’t know how to sit but is gradually learning, these things take time.
Good with my dogs. Sam has lots of love to give, he deserves a new start in life. He will make a wonderful friend.

He is a very handsome dog and loves his cuddles!

Mutley

9/9/11

Pat visited today with the promised Bonio for Mutley and Paddywhacks as a dessert.
Mutley, when food is in the offing is well behaved and polite, even offering a paw!

For more about Mutley, you can always read his Diary!
Mutley’s Diary

Mutley trying the tactic of getting his nose nearer to the plate whilst pretending to rest his head on the settee!

Mutley being more interested in being friends with a fox cub than snaffling the sandwiches!

Maddie ( a.k.a Sophie )

NOW REHOMED

progress update from Helen: 10/9/11

Mutley, Spike, Jackson, Gypsy and I had just finished our walk at the field and the dogs were safely in the car, when I thought I would just pop into a bush for a call of nature as no-one was around. I thought I heard someone mention my name, looked around no-one there, thought I had imagined it. Then Maddie came through the opening in the field, how lovely to see her after three years. She has grown from a puppy into a magnificent girl and as soft in nature as she ever was. She still leaps into Paul’s arms every night when he comes in from work even though she must weigh at least four stone !!

progress update: 21/12/08
Sophie has now been rehomed !!

Sophie is a gorgeous, eight week old, boxer cross who’s a little darling.

She is loving her new foster brother, Bob and can’t wait to get a permanent home.

NOW REHOMED

Patch

Patch has now found a home !!

progress update on Patch from Tracy

Well, what can I say about Patch.
When asked to foster him I said yes as told what a lovely boy he was.
He was like a whirlwind all over the dogs and us.
Patch promptly got out of the garden and took Sam for a jolly up the road where I found them in a garden.
Both came straight to me with wagging tails.
He has never repeated this as he just loves to be with us, is very loving, quickly chooses a family member to attach himself to and will their by their side.
He knows sit and walks well on the lead a slight pull but nothing that can’t be corrected on a walk.
I haven’t come across anything bad with this lovely boy.
Always with these beautiful dogs a little time and patience is needed and whoever gives him a forever home will have a true friend.

progress update from Helen: 29/7/11
Patch stayed here at the rescue for a couple of days when Nicky and Kevin his foster parents went on holiday.
He is sooooooooooooo lovely, just fitted right on in with the other dogs and so affectionate.
He is now staying with Tracy, Sam and her crew and gets on well with children.
He is completely over his upsets healthwise since arriving, the change of environment always hits the dogs stomachs which is why we keep them here for a couple of weeks to allow them to settle down.
Believe me if you are lucky enough to be the right home for Patch you will have a loving and loyal companion.
The dogs that come into the rescue have often had sad lives and it never ceases to amazes us at the rescue how forgiving and loving they still are.
Patch is a perfect example of this.

Patch has been with us for just over a week now and has settled in nicely even though he is still very thin and getting over being poorly he still wags his tail at everyone he meets.
Patch is a very gentle and loving young dog he gets on well with other dogs, cats and any other animals.
Patch is good with children and will make an amazing companion

Chip the cairn terrier

Chip has now found a home !!

progress update: 1/9/11

Chip was quite stressed when he arrived not knowing where he was going or the person that brought him on the long journey.
But now he has settled into his foster home he has relaxed and is getting on well as reported below by Jackie his foster Mum.

After getting off to an inauspicious start by arriving in a crate with a muzzle on Chip has turned out to be a real cutie.
Gets on with our dog Basil and the cat although is a bit nervous when people or cars approach when out for a walk.
Has met a few new people since he has arrived and has been friendly with a wagging tail. Loves playing with a tennis ball and showed a marked interest in the hosepipe when turned on, so would probably love watery walks.
All in all a super little dog.

Zia

Zia has now found a home !!

progress update from her fosterer Heleanor

Zia is a Collie cross about 18 months.
Her tail has not stopped wagging.
She pulls slightly but that can be sorted easily.
She traveled home in the car with out a peep.
She has met the cats, rabbits and chickens as well as my other dogs.
She was inquisitive but that was all.

Ella

Ella has now found a home !!

Likes-

Long walks, cuddles, sleeping on the sofa, other small dogs, her toys, playing fetch, car rides (shortish) and coffee!

Dislikes –

Being left for long periods of time, mushrooms.

I eat anything food wise apart from Bakers as it upsets my tummy and I don’t like mushrooms.
If you leave your coffee around I will drink it ! I am trained to play, fetch, always bring the ball back to your feet.
I always enjoy fetch but also love playing football just don’t let me have the ball to long I try to chew it.
I don’t chew shoes but enjoy slippers.
I am also trained to sit, lie down, give my paw, wait, leave it and any other normal commands.
I also love playing tug of war and play fight but I can get little over excited.
I can be protective especially of women but love everybody who gives me a cuddle.

REHOMED

This is Pickles (aka Fay) playing with her new friend Tia

progress update: 27/6/11

progress update: 27/7/10

Just a little update for you Helen, and hope all is well with you and yours.
Pixie has now been spayed, as you may know, and everything went very smoothly.
She’s all healed up with no problems, back to her normal activities, and thoroughly enjoying herself !
Thought you might like to see these pics, one of them chasing around in the fields, and the other of them both relaxing in the garden.
Best regards from Lynne, Holly & Pixie.

progress update: 4/7/10

Hi Helen,
Just thought you might like these photos, one of Holly & Pixie playing, and the others taken on the patio,
after a long walk and a swim. They are getting closer by the day, and Pixie really brings Holly, (who’s 10 now),
to life on their walks.
Pixie is absolutely full of beans, loves swimming, looking for rabbits, and chasing with other dogs too, which is great.
I have had a small problem with them stealing each other’s beds, which I can smile about in the daytime,
but am not quite so happy with at 2 – 3am in the morning, when Holly usually whinges as she can’t get back in her own bed as Pixie’s right in the middle of it !
The last couple of nights have been peaceful, so obviously my persistence has now paid off ??!!!
I just love them to bits, and it’s great to see that Holly has really accepted her now and gets pleasure from having her around.
She’s still top dog though of course, which Pixie is more than happy with, and takes lots of examples from her.
Luv from Lynne, Holly and Pixie x

progress update 5/5/10

Thought you might like to see this Helen, both the girls half asleep after a long, fun walk and big dinner !
Although Pixie (Faye) tries to show affection to Holly occasionally, it’s not reciprocated yet,
Holly rather ignores her most of the time, so they don’t really interact much yet.
They are quite happy living together though, and Pixie has developed a very strong attachment to me,
which I’m pleased about.
I’m hoping they will get a bit closer eventually, but there are no guarantees, as you know,
and you can’t force the issue.
Best regards, from Lynne
