Cara

Cara has now found a home !!

Cara was taken from a pound on the day she was due to be destroyed.

Cara a black and tan Labrador cross approx 2-3 years old who once again settled straight in at the rescue with the other dogs and is an affectionate girl.

She has a fantastic temperament and did not deserve to die.

Scrappy

progress update 24/8/10

Just thought I would let you know how Scrappy is getting on as we have had him for nearly five weeks, (sorry for not getting in touch sooner).
Anyway, he’s doing really well and we love him dearly. He’s still quite jumpy whenever he hears noises that he doesn’t understand, but apart from that he seems really happy. He’s playing a lot more now – he really likes squeaky toys and he absolutely loves his walks along the seafront. We are taking him to training lessons with Kate every week and he is responding really well, although his re-call skills aren’t great, so it will be a long time before we even think of letting him off the lead outside, but he’s really affectionate and loves a cuddle on the sofa!
I’ve noticed that you are running a fun dog show in September, so we will make every effort to be there and maybe see you then.
Until then, take care, and best wishes,
Wendy, Paul and Scrappy. xx

Scrappy has now been rehomed !!

My name is Scrappy and I am a year old.
I arrived at the rescue today because my family couldn’t keep me anymore.
Since arriving I have got on great with the other dogs and even Dooley trying to wind me up hasn’t got my gander up.
Helen says I am good enough to eat – I hope that she doesn’t mean that I will have to keep an eye on her!

progress update 7/8/10

Hi Helen, thought I ought to send you a little update on how Miss Minnie is getting on!

From the second she came through the door and met Mr Big, she has fitted in perfectly.

Mr Big was a little unsure at first as he is so much smaller than her, but it didnt take him long to fall in love. Minnie loves to barge Mr Big out of the way when cuddles and treats are being dished out. Miss Minnie has the habit of ‘swooning’ when she gets lots of cuddles and noone can budge her!

The two dogs didnt share toys for the first few days, on your suggestion but three weeks in they have started to chew eat others bones and Minnie sits patiently waiting for her treat knowing that we ‘treat’ Mr Big first.

Miss Minnie is a complete water baby and will even stand in a puddle just to get some water action. I dont know what she is crossed with, something water loving thats for sure! Mr Big doesnt share her love of the water but happily paddles his tiny feet on the waters edge to show willing. Alas, his low to the ground belly and white fluffyness means he ends up having a bath after most walks, but he considers that its a small price to pay for such happiness.

Mr Big has never learned to play as he was hand reared so Minnie started to teach him ‘chase’ and ‘sniff’ games. Mr Big now chases Minnie around the garden and on field walks and that is such a lovely sight. He isnt scared by her and she is very gentle, even when herding him when he doesnt do as he is told. Minnie is extremely well behaved and gets quite cross when naughty Mr Big lets the ‘doggie’ side down!

Scarlet loves walking with you and your pack, and loved swimming with Tess, Mutley and Minnie last week. Minnie has enjoyed racing through the fields and water with her new chums Oscar, Lottie, Lulu, Dolly, Dooley, Jasper, Tessa, Mutley, Spike, Skippy, Fudge and Kasha. She desperately wants to be part of Dooleys Swimming Gang, so we are looking forward to our trip to the river with Dooley soon. xx

Minnie went to her new home tonight

This is a photo of her and Scarlet, her new young family member

Scarlets new favourite bedtime story is Dooley’s Diaries which she loves and she is eagerly awaiting his Cornwall diaries!

My name is Minnie and I have come from a home who couldn’t give me the time I needed.
I lived with with five children and cats and I am a bit if a home body, No long holidays for me I like my home surroundings.
Saying that I have settled into the rescue well and tolerate Dooley’s boastful and bossy nature I find the best thing to do when he is going on and on is to completely ignore him.
Helen let me off the lead for the first time yesterday and as she expected I have perfect recall.

Jaz

Jaz has now been homed !!

Hi I am Jaz and I went to a home a year ago when I was still a young pup.
My lady’s working hours have changed and she felt it better that I came back to the rescue even though it broke her heart and mine to do so.
I am scared of lots of noises – silly isn’t it but Jeff who I am staying with is taking me to the pub everyday to get me used to noises and I am doing very well!
He has five dogs here and I like all of them and there is a horse too!

Just wanted to drop you a line to update you on how well Casey is settling with us so far. I’ve attached some photo’s but have been unable to get a photo of all three of them together as they won’t all sit still long enough!!

We collected her last Friday on the 16/07 and her confidence has grown daily. Our other dogs Charlie and Roxie have accepted her into the family really well although Roxie is a little ‘miffed’ that she’s not the baby any more but thinks that all the extra treats are worth the repositioning in her pack!!! She greats all visitors with a wonderful waggy tail and can’t wait to get out into the garden to play. Her only vice (so far!) is her ‘love’ of water (which Carol did warn us about!!) – she loves to climb into the water bowl and empty it out over the kitchen floor!! She’s been wonderful with our children and our foster child whose only 16 mths old and is the perfect addition.

She gives wonderful kisses and thoroughly enjoys her cuddles which is great because she’s getting lots!! Thank you for saving her and allowing us into her life.

Kind regards,

The Leonard Family

progress update 27/7/10

Hi Helen,

I thought you’d like an update on ‘Ted’, and how he is settling in at my house in the three weeks that I have had him.

Soon after I brought ‘Ted’ home I changed his name to Scruffy – it suited him, and he only took about 2 weeks to respond to it. He is a delightful dog, and we get along really well. He follows me everywhere in the house, garden and even at work. He greets anyone who visits me with such affection, and is brilliant with my grandchildren.

Just last week I treated him to a session at the local dogs beauty parlour – and the photo attached shows you the results. A clean dog, having had a hair cut, pedicure and bath. He is so proud of himself now, and tears around the garden like a pup!

The only problem I have with him is on taking him out. I haven’t let him off the lead yet, as he strains constantly when he sees another dog – and if one comes near he tends to go for it. I hope this will sort itself out soon, as I am going to try letting him off the lead next weekend. I’m waiting until then, as I have insurance starting on 1st August!

I’ll keep you up to date every so often; Scruffy is the best thing that has happened to me for a long while – a good companion and friend.

Yours

Brenda

Sophie has now been rehomed !!

progress update 20/7/10

Hi everyone sorry I’ve not been in touch but my foster family took me on holiday with them.
We had a great time and I was a little star.
We had 4 Acres of fields and a stream to play in ,just us dogs and mum and dad and of course all our friends who came to visit .
I’ve learned how to swim now though I’m not to keen.
I hope you like the new pictures of me .
I think I look really good.
catch you later.
Sophie.

o yes I forgot to say I know some horses now and sheep and cows and I was a very good girl when I met them.

My name is Sophie and I’m a Sprollie, you’re going to ask what is that?
Well let me tell you I’m a spaniel collie cross and by the looks of things I’ve got the best of both in me, intelligent, funny and gorgeous
my foster mum (Angela) thinks I’m great
I adore to go for walks with my friends and I have very good recall off lead.
I’m house trained and I sleep in my crate.
Mum says that I’m a cheeky girl, always stealing shoes even though we have a box of toys to choose from.
When my friends are tired and mum is trying to get the house work done I’m quite happy to find things to entertain myself.
I would really like to be re-homed with another well mannered and rounded dog .
I can still be a little shy. but when one of my four legged friends show me its ok, I’m the next one there doing whatever they were up to!
So do you think I might be the pup for you ??
If so give Helen a call and come and meet me and my foster family,
as I’m ready to be re-homed.
Lots of Licks Sophie.

REHOMED.
