progress update for Henry : 5/6/11

Hi Helen
We adopted Henry aka sweep just over a year ago now, and wanted to bring him
along to the DAWG dog fun day if you are having one.
I expect we’ll enter him in a few competitions if he behaves himself
(and if I can cope with the heartbreak of him not winning of course, dreadful proud parent!)
I’ve attached a few up to date photos of Henry, and his step sisters,
you’d think they’d been born in the same house!!!!
Kind regards
Kim and Mark
progress update for Angel ( now Mabel): 21st May 10

Hi, just an update on Angel who now goes by the name of Mabel.
We have had her for a month now now and she is everything we had hoped for.
She is very loving and loves a snuggle on the sofa.
She is also very cheeky and mischievous but is doing well at her puppy training classes – she will do anything for a piece of sausage!!
We all adore her and are so pleased that she has come to join our family, thank you for a wonderful little dog, we wouldn’t be without her now.
progress update for Sweep ( now Henry) :

Henry has settled in very well and extremely quickly into his new home. He
goes to bed without whining now and with the light off, he loves his cuddly
toy, he loves his new Mum and Dad it seems and is totally and thoroughly
loved and spoilt. The cats unfortunately do not like him and are giving me
the impression I have ruined their lives!!! Soooo dramatic.
He is incredibly good for a rehomed 17 week pup and starts his puppy
training classes next week, lets hope we can curb him of jumping up, play
biting, yelping when you leave the room and sneaking up on our laps on the
sofa with his puppy dog eyes!!!! (Although I suspect that we are the ones
who need training in this respect). He is a very sociable little pup and
has great fun down the beach with whoever is down there – getting the
occasional nip in the process.
I have to say we are very pleased with him and he will be well loved. Even
my husband who has never had a dog in his life is smitten! My step daughter
is visiting next week and is beside herself with joy at the prospect of
meeting him – fantastic! she can give him some attention whilst I go and
have a lie down! LOL!!!
Thank you to Dawg Dogs for giving us the opportunity to adopt him and
basically completing our little seaside home.
Kim and Mark x

Angel and Sweep are Lab cross Spaniel pups, 16 weeks old and very sweet.
Tragically the family that they lived with have been made homeless and the pups were living in the car while they desperately tried to find somewhere to live where the pups would be welcome, but as the temperature dropped they realised they would sadly have to give up the pups.
The children would love for them to keep the names they gave them when they go to a new home.
Wriggly dogs are Mark at the rescue’s favourite type of dogs and he is the person that always calls these breeds wriggly dogs for obvious reasons!

Ella has come to foster with Jane and Ozzie until she finds a new home.
These are photos taken only a couple of hours after she arrived and as you can see, she was most intrigued by Jeremy putting up his tent and then soaking it with the garden hose – HUMANS!

Hi, I am 10 months old, love children and dogs but unfortunately me and the cat who I went to live with could not see eye to eye and there was no chance of a peace declaration in the future so I have come back to the rescue.
My family were soooooo sad to see me go as they loved me very much but the cat was there first.
Here is a photo of me up the field I had a lovely time racing around with Mutley and the others.
I am a manageable size not likely to grow much more now my growing pains have stopped, I guess I am about the size of a Springer Spaniel AND I don’t bark in the car which is more than can be said for Mutley who deafened us all on the way to the field this morning !!!!!!
Helen was quite annoyed as he always barks right next to her ear
Taffy is a typical puppy who is into everything.
Loves playing with other dogs. will be easy to train, can sit and lay down on command and food orientated.
He is good on the lead and loves walking.
He is a very happy little chap and will make an excellent pet.
Taffy loves a cuddle and will bring a lot of joy into any family.
NOW REHOMED
Grace is a lovely little girl, very gentle and hasn’t yet found any faults with her.
She is clean in the house, crate trained, loves walking, good on the lead.
She is a little shy but better when she knows you.
She mixes with other dogs but does not like to be badgered by them.
She is the perfect little girl, so graceful, hence her name.
Whoever has Grace will be very lucky indeed.

Hi, I am Beano and quite delightful.
I love dogs and all people I have been at the rescue for several weeks and no-one here can understand why as I am so good.
I am quiet when left, well behaved and clean in the house.
I also know how to behave when taken to the allotment as you can see from my photos.

Beano enjoying sitting in the sun at the allotment.
He is a year old Jack Russel, gets on with other dogs and a delightful dog

This week a 6 year old child came to Jeff’s house to visit and we got on famously. She spent a whole hour cuddling me and throwing the ball.
I fetched it to amuse her but to be honest it was a bit boring but hey you have to amuse the little ones.
I am enjoying myself here at Jeff’s home but would like my own home now and Jeff is getting attached to me, he has several dogs already so can’t keep me.
Hi, my name is Jess and for the last two years I have lived in a shed on a farm.
I was kept there because I didn’t like the working life and this annoyed the farmer. Life was very boring for an intelligent dog like me –
I am a Kelpie cross you know and we are known for our outstanding intelligence so a home that will provide the Times crossword for me to do would suit me well.
Jeff my foster Dad listens to Radio 4 and this keeps me up to speed with world affairs and I also get taken to the pub to enjoy putting the world to rights with him and his cronies.
Jeff has four other dogs and they are all well read so I get on with them extremely well.
I love the sunny days we are enjoying it is such a treat to be out in the fresh air at last.
I like to sunbathe in his garden and if I am feeling frivolous I race around with the dogs for a bit of exercise.

Hi Helen, just a quick update on Mouse now we’ve had her a while, when she first arrived Mouse was quite shy and reserved but it didnt take her long to feel at home, shes happy in the company of my other dogs and my children, she pretty much clean in the house with only one accident so far which is great considering her young age, she is also happy to take herself off into her crate to sleep, we also left her for a short while today with no problems.
Yesterday we went for a walk down to the river where she met lots of dogs and people, she took it all in her stride, this morning we went to Queens Park Golf Course where I let her off lead and she behaved fantastically, she is as good as gold in the car, in the house and we had a brilliant night as she slept right through, we are really enjoying looking after this little girl shes a real sweetheart.

Hi Helen.
Misty has been with me for 5 weeks and her confidence is improving each day, but she is shy with people she doesn’t know.
She enjoys her walks very good on the lead, likes to play with other dogs in short bursts.
Likes to be warm and have a fuss made of her, a very beautiful little Collie girl with lots of love to give to the right person.
Shy with men and recommend with older children only.
Thanks
Tracy

hi helen
Misty is still nervous around people but has come out of her shell with me,
it has taken a while and this little girl has worked very hard at this and loves cuddles and belly rubs.
Misty has finally stopped weeing when been left for short periods during the day as now knows we’re coming back.
Walking on the lead is much better now, still a little nervous of traffic but nothing that won’t go. she likes to be on the inside of the path, I feel this is her safety net.
Misty has been with us for three weeks now and I must say she has not allowed my son’s near her yet, but as ever tiny steps, and each day is a new one.
She has worked hard to get where she is today and , i’m so proud of her.
If Misty could talk, her ideal forever home would be quiet, wouldn’t mind another dog for company, as long as she could get her alone time.
Her bed by the fire because she loves to be warm and a mum who would have time and patience to allow Misty to come completely out of her shell.
This beautiful little girl just needs someone who is willing to give her time and show her it is OK to trust.
Tracy

Misty the Collie arrived this morning in need of a bath and looking much cleaner now,
she is timid at the moment and is in need of lots of TLC.
Been in the garden and had a look around, spent most of her day indoors.
More news later…..watch this space!
