Isabelle is about 2 years old and a cross breed.
She originally came from a kennels in Birmingham, where there
were 12 dogs who were due to be put to sleep, due to overcrowding.
Isabelle was one of them. Izzy isn’t very good with livestock.

She does have issues due to her horrific past,
she was abused and she was found by a dog warden in a canal where the banks were way too high for her to get out of, her previous owner had tried to drown her. Charming.
She suffers from separation anxiety. She doesn’t chew anything up unless it is foodstuffs.
So it’s a good idea to keep food locked away from her!
She has, however worked out how to open doors when she’s left, but with time and commitment,
we think she could get over this.
We think crate training her may be a good idea, then she could be left safely.
Obviously she can’t open a front door, but can open other doors in the house.

She’s excellent with children, good with cats (as long as they are known
to her) other cats she will want to chase.
She’s good with other dogs too. She is extremely loving, gentle, kind and affectionate and is one
of those dogs that snuggles right in close for a hug.
She just needs someone to give her the time she needs.
She does have some problems, as I’ve explained, but she also has so many lovely aspects to her nature.
She is very quiet in the home, and isn’t one of these barky dogs.
She’ll only bark when the doorbell goes for instance, and then she’s soon quiet again.
She is also fully housetrained, and she is very good with other dogs.
It’s just the food stealing and livestock that she’s not good with!


Tegan

Tegan has now found a home !!!

Tegan is 3 years old, loves people and dogs not cats.

Very well behaved and loves nothing more than to have a cuddle and a walk.

She has been mistreated by a man but is not fearful of them.

She is a quiet dog but one with lots of energy for a game or a walk.

Charlie

progress update: 9th Jan 10

Charlie has now been given a permanent home by his fosterer Jane !!

He is a terrier with a purpose and needs a home and garden to guard and protect from marauding cats and fireworks.
He is very affectionate and an excellent companion.

Progress report from Jane Nov. 16th

Charlie has settled in well with Jodie who is very attention seeking and a bit of a bully with him. He is very patient with her and has learnt to manipulate her so that he gets his fair share of attention! He is very clean in the house but does like to roll in noxious substances. However he is quite happy to have a shower when necessary. He loves to retieve balls and will do so any time, any place – whether it is on the beach in the dark or at home when he rolls one down the stairs and chases after it. He also loves to swim and is very courageous, braving choppy seas and even diving rather than lose a ball. Jodie does not like to swim so tries to retieve Charlie and ball when they arrive back on dry land. He has learnt to evade her by going back in the water and swimming very fast to dodge round her. He walks well on a lead but can be belligerent with some other small dogs if not handled firmly; he tends to ignore larger dogs unless they threaten Jodie.

Charlie has settled in really well after his long journey.
He’s a lovely little boy, loads of character and very well behaved.
Will make someone a lovely pet if my Daughter lets him go!!

Badger (a.k.a Grumpy Badger)

Badger has now found a home !!!

Hiya

Just a quick update on Badger.

He has now been neutered and micro chipped.

He is still a bit of a grumpy dog barking and growling at every visitor but he soon calms down and will make friends in his own time!!

He has eventually learned to sit and wait for his food.

I think he would make a very loyal and faithful dog with the right people. He’s settled down well to our household routine and does enjoy his walks although it’s been on a lead because of his operation.

He has made friends with our dog Basil and they do play together running and jumping out at each other. He is not always so friendly with other dogs we meet when out but neither was Basil when we first got him but with time and training this can be over come.

All in all Badger would make a lovely companion and repay any time spent training ten fold.

As you can see Badger is ready for Christmas!!!

Badger has ended up at the Rescue through no fault of his own.
He has come from a family environment.
Badger is about 3 1/2 years old and can be a bit nervous which results in him barking but when he’s gotten used to a new situation he calms down and becomes a friendly dog.


Izzy

Izzy has been rehomed !!

progress update: 20th Dec 09

Hi Helen
Just a quick update on Izzy the collie x we had from you back in July.
What can I say really, apart from she has been a little star since the first day we picked her up from Anne’s,
and what a transformation from the shy little pup that was cowering in the back when we first saw her!
She loves everything, and nearly everyone, she loves her food, playing, walking, sleeping, and most recently,
whacking the baubles off the christmas tree with her tail, and doing a bunk with them.
Though we are still learning not to chase next doors cat halfway up the side of the house, which she only does if the cat doesn’t make the first move, if that happens, its her that comes running in with her tail between her legs.
Thank you for letting her into our lives, our family would not be complete now with out her. have enclosed some pictures, from the one we took when Anne had her, and a couple from over the last few months

Nell ( a.k.a Susie )

progress update: 20th Dec 09

Hello Helen
Just to give you a progress report about Susie or Nell as we have now named her!
She has settled in really well after a rocky start…She managed to escape on her 2nd night and we searched for her until 3am but amazingly she found her way home at 7.30am and was waiting in the porch! I think that gave her a fright as she doesn’t go too far from my side now.
She is an absolute delight and every day her confidence increases. She was very nervous of my son and husband but is now not really bothered by them.
My other collie Mac adores her and they have great fun running in the fields, chasing each other and they also snuggle up on the same bed!
I am getting her used to the lead as I don’t think she was familiar with one before and she is bright and obedient, I don’t think it will take long to have her walking to heel.
She has a good appetite and now eats dry dog food happily and will crunch a biscuit which she wouldn’t do before.
A lovely sweet girl who is bringing much joy to our lives, as I write this she is curled up on the sofa with her head on my lap and I am sure if she could talk she would want to thank you for all the rescue work you do and for changing her life!

Blue ( a.k.a Blue The Collie )

Blue has now been rehomed !!

progress update: 5th Dec 09

He has settled in very well and is a lovely dog, he likes to play with toys and has two walks a day.
He’s lost his fear of men already and I can pick him up and sit him on my lap in the chair and he sprawls out so you can rub his chest.
He adores mum and sleeps on the bottom of her bed every night. If she’s not awake by 7ish he lies on her head and licks her ears! He likes to run around trying to bite his tail too!
We have no problems with him at all.

progress update from Claire: 28th Oct 09

I have been looking at pictures of Blue Merle Collies this morning and I think Blue is by far the most handsome even with his odd coloured eyes!
He is settling in quite well, no more indoor incidents!
For a Collie he is quite calm and will get in his bed or the crate and sleep well after a walk. I thought when he arrived he would want three walks a day and still have energy but he is satisfied after one reasonable walk and a tear around the garden. He has cut down his circling of the coffee table as he is becoming more comfortable.
Unfortunately he is nervous around Mark and barks at him. We know he has been badly treated in the past so he does react to sudden movements or strange noises but recovers quickly. He seems to want to trust Mark but he needs a bit more time to get used to him and understand he is no threat.
Like most dogs he loves cuddles and attention. He keeps trying to lick my neck, I’m not keen on it though! He enjoys being combed. He has decided that his favourite toy is a plastic dog bowl, he bounces round the garden with it in his mouth. He also loves rolling around on the lawn, even when it is wet! Thankfully the good weather has meant the back door can stay open and he can enjoy the freedom of the garden when he chooses.

progress update from Claire: 25th Oct 09

Blue is quite sweet natured, surprisingly he’s a bit timid around Mark.
He has been repeatedly circling the coffee table, he does this when he’s thinking.
Took him for a long walk yesterday which wore him out.
He was a bit stiff this morning!
He’s tried to cock his leg indoors a couple of times even though he is generally clean.
