She had her first trip to the pub yesterday and was the perfect lady.
As you can see from the pictures, she was making herself at home and is child friendly too.
Shes got quite a prey drive so no small ferries, other than that shes perfect in every way, she really is delightful
She absolutely loves men by the way!!

Following the photo of Carrie which was taken upon her arrival to the Rescue a month ago,
we are so pleased to be able to share these pics taken today
she has gained weight and her wounds have healed nicely
amazing what some TLC can achieve

Poor Carrie arrived to us in not a good state of health.

Covered in scars with a few open wounds and very thin as well.

In the last few weeks her wounds have healed, she is putting on weight and become more confident.

We will post more recent photos this week.

This is one that was taken soon after she arrived.

progress update: 15/07/2020

Hello we just wanted to share our news, our Bruce pictured next to Stuart had been unwell and we thought he might have diabetes.
We were referred to Southern Counties Vet in Ringwood on Wednesday and after a very emotional day he has been diagnosed with Cushing’s Syndrome. Like many people who had no idea about this illness. But relieved to know with the correct dosage of medication he will continue to live and full and active life,
We thank everyday we spend with our two Kelpie rescues from DAWGDOGS and thank you Helen for all your support and for trusting us to take care of our beautiful pair

Charlie one of our Dawgdogs came with Sarah who he now lives with to visit Helen at her allotment.

He has obviously heard what a good weed killer Buddy was and decided to help with digging over one of the beds and a good job he made of it too as you can see from the photo.

Helen was most impressed with his fine sieving of the soil and encouraged him to dig over different parts which she then raked over.

Come again soon Charlie, Helen has another new bed to dig over!

Felix

Felix has now found a home !!

progress update: 27/06/2020

Felix is a gentle loving boy, he enjoys going for his walks and having a good sniff.
He likes to meet other dogs but can get a bit excited.
We are working on his recall but at the moment it is very selective and will need a lot more work before he can go off lead.
He may scent mark in the house so careful introduction to new areas would be advised.
He has gained confidence with men but is nervous of sudden movements.
He loves food and will take any opportunity to get more and has a very good reach!
His favourite thing is to try and climb on your lap for a good cuddle.
Sue

Felix arrived last Sunday from a dog pound.
He is around two years old and a Lurcher with Collie in his mix.
He was extremely nervous at first and very frightened of men but seems to be more relaxed now.
Below is what Sue his foster Mum has written about his progress –

Felix has had a good first night and is getting on well with Marler (Nero).
He is already gaining confidence with Andy.

Sunny

Sunny has now found a home !!

Sunny – arrived on Sunday from a dog pound.
He is a little thin but will soon gain weight with the extra meals he is having.
He has been friendly and confident since he arrived and seems to love everyone he meets.
Lianne fostered him for his first night until Lisa who he is fostering with now could pick him up the next day.
Here is Lisa’s update on how he is settling in :-
Hi Helen he’s settling in lovely boy good with kids we love him
Been to Delph woods and Sunny is very good on lead and with other dogs.
He’s a little nervous when dogs approach and try to play. X

Lili

progress update: 17/06/2020

7 years ago, almost to the day we took on Lili. Lili was a DAWG rescue from Ireland. She came over with a few medical issues and some severe stress problems. She was adopted by a lovely couple, but after a few months they were in a position where she hadn’t settled properly with them. I’d got to know Lili by this point and she had a bond with my other dog. We decided to step in and take her on. Since then she’s had one hip replaced, then after 5 years removed in an emergency operation when it failed. we then had 6 months and a load of physiotherapy and aqua therapy to strengthen the floating joint. Then the second hip was finally replaced. Again a load of crate rest, restricted exercise for months and follow up xrays. During this period, we were emigrating to Spain with the menagerie, and our departure date was delayed several months to allow Lili to have her second hip replacement operation at Anderson Moors specialist vets. This meant she was getting the best treatment possible. Thankfully her insurance picked up all but a couple of thousand of the cost for the 3 operations.

The first photo was taken on the first day of her being allowed to have a 20 minute off lead walk with her ‘brother’ Skia. Lili is the smaller collie on the left. We moved to a small farm in the countryside miles away from anywhere so that the dogs and cats could have lots of space. The dogs have an acre field enclosed outside the house to run in as much as they like. We’re surrounded by mountains and beautiful quiet walks. The photo is taken in another of our fields in the woods behind the house. Her joy was absolutely palpable. The second photo was taken this spring. A year on from the move and her being released from crate rest. Lili has now been with us for 7 delightful years. We’ve used dog listening techniques to remove all of her stress. She now happily goes in the car, walks on the lead, recalls, and leaves the cats alone! She’s coped with all the building work and has made all the builders fall in love with her. One chap is scared silly of dogs and he adores her so much he has to cuddle her and gets really excited when she’s around him. She is simply the most adorable dog I’ve ever met.

Thank you DAWGs for bringing her into our lives. We would be lesser people without her grin and snuggles. I am looking forward to many more years in her company. We wouldn’t have her if it wasn’t for you all and your dedication to the abandoned dogs of the UK

Hi Helen, hope you and your team are well.
Just thought you would like an update on Riley.
We’ve been working on his recall and happy to say he is really good on it.
He is such a delight and still has his very cheeky character about him.
We love him so much and excited about his first birthday next month, we are going to be baking him his own special doggie cake xx
