progress update: 3/5/11

Mouse is about 12-13 weeks old,
has a lovely sweet nature, she is pretty much clean in the house,
she is also crate trained, has fantastic offlead recall,
goes through the night and is good as gold in the car

progress update: 21/4/11

Hi Helen, just a quick update on Mouse now we’ve had her a while, when she first arrived Mouse was quite shy and reserved but it didnt take her long to feel at home, shes happy in the company of my other dogs and my children, she pretty much clean in the house with only one accident so far which is great considering her young age, she is also happy to take herself off into her crate to sleep, we also left her for a short while today with no problems.

Yesterday we went for a walk down to the river where she met lots of dogs and people, she took it all in her stride, this morning we went to Queens Park Golf Course where I let her off lead and she behaved fantastically, she is as good as gold in the car, in the house and we had a brilliant night as she slept right through, we are really enjoying looking after this little girl shes a real sweetheart.

REHOMED

progress update 11/5/11

Here are a couple of pictures of Jagger and Chrissie.
They are the best of friends, even if Jagger sits on Chrissie at breakfast time (it’s to keep his bottom warm!)
I often look at your website, and notice that you get some lovely dogs.
Bye for now Helen.
Sue, Dave, Chrissie and Jagger xxxx

progress update 14/8/10

I have been with my new mum and dad for 5 weeks now, and i am having a great time, with my new friend Chrissie the border collie. She also comes from Helen’s. My name is jagger by the way. I was called jake, but my new mum and dad thought jagger suited me better.
I can run rings around Chrissie, but she puts up with me, and is nice to snuggle up to, when i get tired, which isen’t very often!
Before I came here i was with my foster dad Dave who nursed me back to health, because i had a nasty bout of kennel cough that i caught in ireland, with a temperature of 102 ! As you can see i am fine now and enjoying life so much. I have made several new doggy friends that i like to run and play with. I go swimming in the river, while Chrissie paddles, but i am looking forward to going to the beach.
I shall always be grateful to auntie Helen for bringing me over from ireland. life is good here.
Love jagger and Chrissie.

Jake has now found a home !!

progress update from Dave: 29/6/10

We still havent heard him bark! For a jack russell is this amazing
All he wants to do is sit on your lap or beside you on sofa sleeping.
Jake is eating and drinking well. He loves the few toys we got for him, jake goes mad for a ball.
He has a huge amount of energy when he is playing in the garden.

Jake does not know any commands!! So will need a lot of training but I am sure he will excel in treat training.
We can already tell he will not like to be left alone and loves human contact.
He is a true character who wants to play with his toys and then snuggle up on the sofa when he has tired his owner out!!
While out walking we have met other dogs which he has shown no aggression to or any interest in them!
He does walk well on the lead.

Thiis is Jake who came from Ireland a fortnight ago

progress update: 24/3/11

Hi Helen.
Misty has been with me for 5 weeks and her confidence is improving each day, but she is shy with people she doesn’t know.
She enjoys her walks very good on the lead, likes to play with other dogs in short bursts.
Likes to be warm and have a fuss made of her, a very beautiful little Collie girl with lots of love to give to the right person.
Shy with men and recommend with older children only.
Thanks
Tracy

progress update: 24/3/11
hi helen
Misty is still nervous around people but has come out of her shell with me,
it has taken a while and this little girl has worked very hard at this and loves cuddles and belly rubs.
Misty has finally stopped weeing when been left for short periods during the day as now knows we’re coming back.
Walking on the lead is much better now, still a little nervous of traffic but nothing that won’t go. she likes to be on the inside of the path, I feel this is her safety net.
Misty has been with us for three weeks now and I must say she has not allowed my son’s near her yet, but as ever tiny steps, and each day is a new one.
She has worked hard to get where she is today and , i’m so proud of her.

If Misty could talk, her ideal forever home would be quiet, wouldn’t mind another dog for company, as long as she could get her alone time.
Her bed by the fire because she loves to be warm and a mum who would have time and patience to allow Misty to come completely out of her shell.

This beautiful little girl just needs someone who is willing to give her time and show her it is OK to trust.

Tracy

Misty the Collie arrived this morning in need of a bath and looking much cleaner now,
she is timid at the moment and is in need of lots of TLC.
Been in the garden and had a look around, spent most of her day indoors.
More news later…..watch this space!

Ruby (a.k.a Maxine)

Ruby, formerly Maxine, happily settled in her new home with Minnie

Maxine has now found a home !!

progress update: 2/4/11

Hi Helen, just a few more pictures of Maxine who continues to do very well,
we walked over the Golf Course this morning which she loved, she ran her socks
off after the Squirrells but came back every time I asked her, she really is a fantastic little dog

Niki

progress update: 28/3/11

Hi Helen just a quick progress report for the lovely Maxine,
this lovely girl has been here a week now and her behaviour is still fantastic, shes so good in the house, and anywhere else you care to take her, shes very sociable with other dogs and people, shes wonderful with my children and all of their friends, shes good as gold at night in her crate we don’t hear a peep out of her.

Maxine enjoys spending most of her time with me in the day, she likes to help out with what ever you are doing, she is quite an energetic and busy little dog, but saying
that she is also very very affectionate and really enjoys being cuddled and loves to be on your lap in the evenings, Maxine is happy to go in her crate during the day if I have
to go out so she really is a fantastic dog all round, she has great recall off lead, and if I did’nt have 3 dogs already she would be staying with me.

Regards
Niki

Hi Helen, just a quick update on the lovely Maxine now she has been here a little while,
this little girl has settled herself in here extremely well, she has been clean and dry in the house and has been happy to go in her crate during the day and through the night with no problems at all,
she is very respectful of my other dogs, and very very affectionate with my
children,
so far she has been a little bit shy regarding playing with toys but I’m sure this will come in time.

Maxine travelled very well in the car for our walk by the river this morning where she had a great she time meeting lots of other dogs and people she was happy to say hello to dogs
of all different shapes and sizes, without hesitation which is great,
at this very moment Maxine is curled up on my daughter’s lap,
she really does enjoy being fussed and we are really enjoying having her here.

Niki

Purdy

Purdy has found a home !!

progress update: 28/3/11

Hi Helen, Just a little note to say that Purdy is having a whale of a time and adapting well to our household.
She has had loads of walks so far and been run ragged with the ball (I think she will lose weight quickly because all the neighbouring children like throwing ball for her also).
On the whole I think she has settled in quite well, she has made a den in one of the flower beds and likes to sit in my chair when we are not looking (cheeky dog : ) ).
Thanks for allowing us the opportunity of rehoming Purdy we will look after her and ensure that she has a good life.
Will send pictures and updates periodically.
Thanks Jason and family

progress update: 23/3/11

Purdy will be going to her new home tomorrow !!

progress update: 9/3/11

Hi Helen,
A quick update on Purdy.
She’s relaxed a bit more into family life now; getting better on the lead and not nearly so excitable.
She’s devoted to my 3 year old daughter, follows her everywhere! I really hope she finds a lovely home, I think she’d like somewhere relaxed and calm as she is a real sleeper!
She’s been all over the place for different walks with us, nothing seems to faze her, and she’s lovely around other dogs – even the ones that aren’t so nice to her.
Thanks Helen
Kind regards
Jo.

Hi Helen,
This is Purdy. Between 3 and 4 years old. She’s a lovely girl on the small side for a Border collie.
I’ve had her with me for 3 days and she’s been great.
She’s perfect off the lead (all she wants is to play ball), fine with other dogs and great with kids.
She is pretty rubbish on a lead though! (You can’t have everything!)
As I said she is a collie and can be a bit bouncy and lickey for the first few minutes when you come home for instance, but these are small ‘problems’ that can be sorted fairly easily.

She was living with an older lady, who fell on the ice and badly broke her arm before Christmas.
The lady felt she could no longer manage the dog, she can’t drive yet as the arm is not healing properly and she is due yet another operation.
Purdy hasn’t been properly exercised since before Christmas, so she is a bit tubby!

Kind regards
Jo.

Rudy

Rudy has now found a home !!

Rudy arrived on Wednesday, he is a 10 months old Springer Spaniel good with horses, dogs, children and possibly cats.
The family he came from had a lot of animals but not sure if they had cats.
Due to his lady being in intensive care very ill we were asked to take him on and find a new home for him. He is a typical springer Spaniel active and friendly will need more training on his recall and lead walking.

Jess

Jess has now found a home !!

progress update: 24/3/11

We have walked Jess a total of 3 times now.
Once on a short lead (as this was her first time out with me) and twice on the long lead to give her a bit more freedom.
She has proved to be very obedient – obviously she pulls as this is a normal process when the dogs first get to experience new things!
Upon whistling for Jackson and Spike, she will turn round and stop in her tracks –
Also, I’m not too sure why, but when I shout for Spike she comes to me and looks expectantly.
This may well be to do with the tone of my voice though.

She also tends to seek approval.
If you’re standing still, she will jump up and rest her front paws over your forearm like shes trying to hug you! If you stroke her, she tends to get down and carry on walking.
I have started using ‘heel’ with her – she does respond and pulls less, however, this will take time.

Overall, she is a wonderful dog with a very affectionate character who won’t take long to rehome –
If I could have her, she would’ve come with me 2 weeks ago!

Jessie fishing in my pond,
she spent hours doing this today!

progress update: 21/3/11

Hi, this is me after a looooong walk in Ringwood forest with Jules, Jen ( who took us all out) and Mutley and crew.
I had a fabulous time and came back slightly off white in colour.
I have settled in here as you can see and am loving all the new people and dogs that I meet.
Everyone who comes to the house to see Helen loves me and when she had people here last week doing things with electric stringy things and fences and stuff I was besides myself they thought I was just lovely.
Melissa came today and said if she didn’t already have three dogs she would of taken me home.
Rosie my companion went to a new home today hope I will be off to one soon.

Love Jessie xx

Jess is gorgeous she s 6 months old intact female collie, very good recall once she knows you, she stays around outside all day and is as good as gold but needs more input she s ready to be someones dog she loves attention and pleasing people, very good with other dogs but is quite dominant so she wont be pushed down by other dogs, she does this quite politely however and is a gentle sweetie, Duke and her get on great. She s good with our cat but he doesnt run, she might chase a cat if it ran and is house trained, but is a bit of a climber and will be found on the kitchen table etc if left unsupervised!! Doesnt get car sick. Happy to travel.
