Yasmin, Cookie, Jess, Carla and Teddy have all now found homes!
They went to her terrified to get within touching distance of people and who
( after Ann had spent hours just sitting in a chair by them)
changed into confident, sociable dogs before going new homes.

Kim and Sheba have both now found homes !!

We have never been out of a shed before and today for the first time
we went in a car.
After a while we looked out of the window and there was so much to look at.
When we arrived at the rescue we couldn’t believe it the door was open and we went into the sun.
We are not sure what to make of all this and are staying away from Helen and running
and hiding in our bed.
We heard her say that we will soon learn that life has improved and to be stroked and cuddled.
Bracken has already got into the cuddling thing.
Clive is ok and we quite like playing with him, he says there is a whole new world out there for us to discover.
It is so nice to stretch our legs and to run up and down outside.
We have never slept on blankets before and they are extremely comfortable and
there is also a heater on in our room at night !!
This is all very new to us.
He has now been rehomed with Walter !

Daisy has now been rehomed !!

Walter has already found a new home with Roger and Veronique who have rescued a DAWGdog in the past!

progress update from Jane: 25th May 09
Hi Helen
A couple of pictures of Walter for the web site.
After his long journey yesterday, Walter slept like a log last night.
In fact I had to nudge him to wake him up this morning!
Walter is absolutely gorgeous, very sweet natured but desperate for some TLC.
He is so thin and very stiff but perhaps when he has a bit of fat on him that will ease.
He seems a little hard of hearing but does come to you with body language and
food! I think he will enjoy the BBQ tonight!!
Have had the usual “can we keep him” from Jem!
Speak soon, Jane ox

Walter came from a farmer who had decided he was no longer of use to them.
He is seven years old and has a lovely gentle nature.
He is thin and is on extra rations to bring him up to weight.
He is fostering with the Ferguson Family and Ozzie their dog.
If you think that you may be able to provide
a good home

Lucky has now found a home !!
progress update from Jackie: 23rd Apr 09
Lucky is a very individual dog, full of contradictions!!!
She spends a lot of her time curled up in her bed or some other hidey-hole, like under the table or desk. For all that she’s not a nervous or jumpy dog alarmed by loud noises or cheering.
She walks quite well on a lead although I haven’t let her off yet. She will chase a ball in the garden but she takes it straight to her bed unless stopped in her tracks when she will give it up quite willingly to be thrown again.
She is friendly with other dogs we meet but has shown slight signs of jealousy towards our dog, but no aggression.
Lucky’s not an excitable dog but does wag her tail when we arrive home, and she likes to be petted but always seems to look a bit unsure of herself as though she doesn’t deserve good treatment!!
She does suffer a bit of seperation anxiety and does howl intermittantly during the night but is easily reassured with a quick visit to settle her down.
She has travelled well in the car on the short journeys I’ve taken with her and quite happily curled up in the back without howling when I popped into a shop.
I think she would make an ideal dog for an adult household and that she would make a loyal companion given time to settle in.
All in all she is a very endearing dog that grows on you the more you get to know her!!
Hope I haven’t put people off ‘cos she’s lovely dog!!!
Jackie

Flint is going to his new home on Thursday !!
progress update: 19th Apr 09
Flint is now looking for a new home.
He has been in a very good home and has been very well trained,
but unfortunately prefers a quiet life and is finding it stressful to be in a household with young children.
He loves long walks over the Purbecks !
progress update: 15th Nov
Flint will be going to his new home tomorrow !!
progress update from Tony: 9th Nov
Just a quick update on Flint, he is fine! Everyone who meets him falls in love with him but they all think he does not need much walking.
He has a good turn of speed and is at present very happy with two, three mile plus walks a day and a short walk before bed. We do not think he would be suitable for someone who could not commit to at least two walks a day.
He is also very intelligent and I think would benefit from training, he seems to know the basics already.
progress update from Tony: 8th Nov
Flint has settled in really well and we are walking him off the lead,
he has quite a turn of speed especially when he chases rabbits.
He is very quite and undemanding and will make someone a wonderful companion.

Well, I have arrived in England and is my way have taken it all in my stride.
I’m not in the least bit fazed by Dooley who thinks he’s in charge.
I’m way too wise for all that nonsense and can sort myself out thank you very much.
I soon sussed out the best bed and settled myself down for a snooze.
Being a mellow sort of chap and having stayed with Jan who helps Tessa out with fostering us dogs I’m used to an orderly life of regular walks and very good meals.
I, like Fen, was found wandering but instead of a mangled tail I had a mangled leg from an accident with a car.
My leg had to be amputated and I have learnt to run very well on three legs.
I can even to the amazement of everyone cock my leg
(though of course I only do this where I am meant to)
and I can scrape up the soil behind me after relieving myself whilst balancing on three legs.
No mean achevievment!
I stayed with Sonia for a couple of days before making the journey to here and completely ignored her cat.
I’m a stable sort of chap who likes to quietly go about life without making too much fuss.
I think I will like it here but would prefer to be in a home where I will be appreciated for my placid temperament.
Anyway our evening meal is about to be served so I must stop now or I’ll be late to the table and Fen will eat it all !
Flint will need a quiet home as he doesn’t ask for much.
He is quite content to mind his own business and is gentle and quiet.
He gets on well with other dogs but does not need to be homed with one.
He is also good with children and loves the car.
All in all a thoroughly nice dog who will
make someone an excellent companion.
progress update: 22nd Apr 09
Andy and Jo have offered Ellie a permanent home with them.
They say that they want her life to be as enjoyable as possible for as long as she has left.
We would like to thank them for giving Ellie a home
progress update: 21st Apr 09
Ellie arrived from Ireland having already had a scan which revealed a kidney stone needing removal.
This was removed and she was spayed at the same time.
Ellie has been used only for breeding all her life and as a result of this her health has suffered. We have now discovered that she is blind in one eye and has limited vision in the other.
She is also nearly deaf.
We are awaiting the results of a diabetes test.
Andy and Jo , who are fostering her and who took her to the vet as they were concerned about her health, are going to look after her until a home can be found.
If not, she will be going back to Ireland to live with Tessa.
We would like to thank Andy and Jo for looking after Ellie and for caring about her so much.
progress update: Apr 19th 09
Ellie arrived at the Rescue yesterday, more details and photos soon!

This is Ellie, she’s turned out to be the nicest dog, brilliant on walks off the lead in the forest,
or on the beach, & comes the second she is called.
Typical sunny springer nature & she’ll play ball for hours , just dropping it gently at your feet if you are busy doing something else [ even washing up at the sink ]
she’d be brilliant with children & is ok with dogs & now fine with cats
